Features
:
Basic PAF type Humbucking pickup
about 7.4 k ohm DC resistance, if you buy into the theory that DC resistance says something about its sound.
Instrument
:
I play various guitars, and have put super70s in them.
I use tube amps, because for Rock...nothing beats a good tube amp.
Ask any real rock star. Like Marshalls, Fenders etc etc
Sound

This is a lower output pickup. next to EMGs, its a joke. Next to passives its more than a single coil..but not as hot as a SD JBeck.
But there is more to tone than output.
It is well balanced in low, mids and highs. I would say it doesnt sound like its forced in its tone. Lots of pickups sound like they are on steriods..they make one kind of sound and thats it. And its an exaggerated, sound that you cant loose when you want to.
The Super70 are lower output, and demure by comparison..but dont be fooled. Start to work them in your rig and you'll find they sit VERY well in a mix. And you can get alot out of them. They are dynamic, quiet and a very usable Humbucker. No wonder people like PAFs...well this is (imho) a great case for that.
The pickups work well with any effects, and dont produce any weirdness in that regard.
In bridge or neck position they work fine.
I play Rock originals and covers (from 1960 to current) and its great with sounds up to the EMG era. Super70 can be agressive (Think Slash)..but not that EMG sound. Which is FINE by me!!!

If lost, Id find more.
Ive been playing 30 years, and have been really blessed to own alot of gear in that time. And I have AB'd stuff throughout my life. I dont take people's word for anything.
Super70 are great pickups because they deliver the goods. No wonder Gibson sued Ibanez right when their guitars had Super70s in them. Those guitars were halting sales of Gibsons costing2-3x as much!! They sounded that good.
I wish the Super70 all came with enough leads for coil tapping etc etc but some do and some dont. I dont think Ibanez thought these pickups would be desired so many years later..so they are just what they are..no options, really.
I think Ibanez gets some things right and many things wrong. I wish they get back to their heyday (1975-1980). But at least you can find the Super70 pickups here and there. Put em in your axe and have a sound that would make any real rock start proud.

I'd find more to replace these. I've been performing for 40 years. I own strats, tele's, gibsons, and ibanez artists. Nothing but good things to say about these pickups. Very satisfied. I'll take any you want to get rid of.

Features
:
Pickup features: Humbucker, passive, chrome cover, single lead (ground and hot). Impedence or other specs: I'm pretty sure it's an Ibanez. Impedance: 7.5 or 7.6? Can?t remember...
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Hohner G3T headless Steinberger copy, neck-through maple 1-pc. Position: bridge Pickup being replaced: Seymour Duncan ?Duncan Custom? Other pickups on guitar: EMG Select single coils Artists using this pickup: The one in my bedroom? You musical style(s): POD, Switchfoot, Disturbed, even Skynyrd, etc. Reason for pickup change: The Duncan replaced the oem EMG Select humbucker and was a vast improvement, but my band?s lead guitarist had the same pickup already (and I play rhythm). Needless to say we sounded too alike in the mix (even with different guitars and amps) and thus necessitated another pickup. I wanted to get a thicker, chunkier sound.
I had also considered a Duncan Invader and a Gibson ?57 Classic Plus, but then this one came along out of the blue while I was visiting a pawn shop. How often does that happen??
Sound
:No Opinion
Perceived output level: Output is the same as the EMG Select, noticeably less than the Duncan Custom (not necessarily a bad thing, however). It matches the Select single coils perfectly. Tone: Compared to the Duncan, it has smoother (not as much) highs, and seems to have better bottom. This may be just my perception though, but it does seem to have a more ?warmer? sound. I don?t have a real LP or copy to make a more objective comparison. Sonic evaluation: In my bedroom I have a Fender Backstage 10. Although output is less, the sound is closer to what I am trying to get. The warmth it gave my little Backstage was almost tube-like. For performances, I play through a Mesa Mark III head/Marshall 4-12? cabinet. The sound seems fine to me, with the versatility of that amp I can dial in as much bass/mid/treble as I need. Also, having individual on/off switches for each pickup really enhances versatility.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play rock/hard rock with this guitar; I think it is a great match. It is small and light, easy to play and move around with on stage.

Comments: I?m not sure I can answer the ?if destroyed or stolen, would you get another? question as humorously as many others in the pickup database, as this question doesn?t make a lot of sense. Yes. Is that good enough? I don?t feel like being a smart-aleck today.
I?ve been playing for 7 years. I?ve gone through some nice gear, but currently just have the Hohner, the Fender amp, a Lyle acoustic, and an Applause acoustic 12-string. I also play bass, but don?t currently own one.
I initially wished that the pickup cover wasn?t on it, but it doesn?t look too badly on my guitar, so I can live with it. I wish it had another wire for coil-tapping but I don?t usually use that option anyway, so no big deal there. Shielding on lead wire is the ground, and it?s entirely exposed?I wish it was covered, but it isn?t a problem in my guitar.
I was going to get the Gibson ?57 Custom until I got this one. I think it will give me the sound I am looking for, on top of saving me some $$$ compared to what the Gibson?s are going for on EBay.
Bear in mind, that all of this is just my own subjective opinion. Even in my own hunt for the ?right? pickup I have found that you just have to try stuff until you find the right combination that works. Opinions from others with experience can get you close, but they are still just opinions (and that?s my opinion, lol!) The main point is to try and have fun experimenting. One thing that seems to help a lot, is having each pickups output match the other ones. That way your sound isn?t all over the place when switching between the three, and one won?t seem like it?s sucking the other one dry if it is too hot and the other?s not.
For the record, I give it an 8, as it sounds decent and was a good bargain.
If you read this, drop me a line via email. I?m curious as to how many folks are actually looking at this review. Thanks!
