Features :
Pickup features: passive humbucker
Impedence or other specs: 10,2

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Epiphone Korina Explorer
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Epiphone stock, then Iommi signature humbucker
Other pickups on guitar: Duncan Screamin' Demon
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): Hard rock, rock, funk ...
Reason for pickup change: Iommi's pickup has not enough treble for my personal taste

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Super hot distortion pickup
Tone: All frequencies are boosted and the sustain is endless. You get those nice sweet "WEW"-tones when soloing above the twelfth fret.
Sonic evaluation: No matter what amp I use this pickup burns ! And most important it doesn't squeal at high volumes. The sustain is incredible.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For most styles this pickup will be too hot for the neck-position, but when I don't play heavy stuff I split it for single-coil sound. Try this out, and you'll see that real hot pickups can be very useful even in the neck position. All my guitars are equiped with mini-toggles to split the humbuckers and once you get used to this luxury you can't play a guitar without this function on it anymore. I haven't tried it out in the bridge-position yet, but I suspect that it will function just as well or maybe even better there.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I like this pickup very much and it's the hottest thing I ever put in a bridge-position. I have a Duncan JB which is a bridge pickup in the neck of my Gibson SG and it's not as hot as the Jackson. The JB is an all-round pickup which unlike many others has a good sound when split. The Jackson must be a distortion pickup but sounds also very good in single-coil mode. So if you want clean sounds both in humbucker & single-coil mode you shouldn't buy the Jackson. I currently have five guitars and I certainly don't mind that my Explorer can't play clean in humbucker mode when I use the neck pickup. It can in single-coil mode and how ! And finally the Jackson also blends very well with the Screamin' Demon in the bridge, even when both are humbucking.
