Features :
Humbucker, passive

Instrument :
Put it in bridge position in a BC-Rich Warlock and it's been in there for about 20 years. Recently plundered that guitar and put it in an Epi LP junior which had a P90. No other pups installed on that one. Buying the LP junior was because I wanted to try the P90 but didn't like it enough.

Sound : 10
Used to play metal. Machinehead, Fear Factory, Prong. I used to downtune to A (what is normally E) allways sounded like a motherf...r!
No matter what stompbox or amp. Allways had a good sound.
Now, in the LP junior it's the same. Still kicks ***. I play it through a Peavey 5150 (1st issue with the EVH's autograph on the front) nowadays and more rock-oriented. Still use a lot of gain though...

Overall Rating : 10
I wouldn't buy another but that's only because I don't need it anymore.
Been playing for 23 years now (Oh my GOD I'm gettn' old!)
I own a Fenix tele (check the review on this site!!!) and a Yamaha AES 820. The earlier mentioned 5150 is my amp (the past 10 years) and some stompboxes. That's enough for me.

I would buy another.
10+ years.
Great fuzzy metal sound. The only problem I've had is light rusting on one of the poles, probably due to being in the basement. No sound problems because of it.
It's fine the way it is.
Satisfied with pickup.
Good pickup for heavy metal. Covers up mistakes! The J90C is a little cleaner sounding.

Features :
Pickup features: passive humbucker, guitar is equipped with 6dB midbooster
Impedence or other specs: haven't got a clue

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Charvel Model 6 (early japanese "SL1")
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: stock PU
Other pickups on guitar: Jackson JS-200
Artists using this pickup: I guess none (I would be surprised if there was 1)
You musical style(s): almost everything, except for R&B, but mostly I play rock and metal (old and new stuff)
Reason for pickup change: no pickup change (yet), it is going to be replaced soon by a DiMarzio Steve's Special.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: no output at all, at least too little to me.
Tone: banjo alike (clean) without the midbooster, with the midbooster turned on it sounds way better (but metallic alike)
Sonic evaluation: i have 2 guitars: a Ibanez JPM100 loaded with DiMarzio's steve's special and air norton and this guitar (charvel model 6, loaded with this piece of crap). I run it through a MESA quad preamp and a Mesa 50/50 through a 1*12" cab. My Ibanez sounds great, fat, thick, punchy etc etc, but not for the Charvel: if the Ibanez has a mouth full of teeth (predator like), the charvel is a marble mouth: needs false teeth. it has no power, punch or whatever. The tonal balance is not that bad (with the midbooster on "full"), but it lacks attack. so, this piece of junk produces only "sound", no music or tone.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play rock, metal, jazz, blues, pop etc etc: let's say everything but country. Since this pickup is only suitable to replace the banjo section in a country formation, it is not suitable for me. the only suitable place for this pickup is the trashbin.

Overall Rating : 1
Comments: 1 word: bad. clear enough. as soon as the pickups arrive I ordered it will be replaced and my guitar will live happy ever after.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive humbucker
Impedence or other specs: Covered when I got it........kinda like an EMG

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Charvel Model 2
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: N/A
Other pickups on guitar: None
Artists using this pickup: I saw a picture of Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot playing a model 2 with this pickup in it.
You musical style(s): 80's shred, punk, industrial goth stuff, blues, 70's rock, death metal, ABBA
Reason for pickup change: Not changed yet, but will be soon. Read below.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Sounds like a Seymour Duncan JB and a Distortion humped and had a puppy. All the crappy parts of each model. I sounds like a copy pickup like the Power Sound or the Duncan Design.
Tone: Treble, treble, a little mid range, bottom sucks.
Sonic evaluation: I'm playing through a BOSS Metal Zone, DOD FX9 Delay, Morely Wah and a CRATE GX65. It sounds okay, but could use some more nuts. It could use a Duncan Custom Custom. I plan to get rid of the pickup ASAP. At first i liked it, but now that i have gotten to know it better it doesn't suit me well.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I use this Charvel Model 2 for RATT, Dokken, Van Halen and most other 80's metal stuff. It kinda sounds good, but not exactly what I would call perfect or even suitable. It's all a matter of personal taste.

Overall Rating : 5
Comments: If I don't like it, it doesn't mean you don't like it. I want a more rounded off sound and have been looking for this sound for a while. This pickup was a good try. It has gotten a little microphonic in it's old age. Thats probably why it sounds like crap compared to my Duncan Distortion and Invader in my other guitars. Good effort though.

Features :
Pickup features: passive humbucking
Impedence or other specs: ???

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 87' Charvel Soloist
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Oh, it's already been replaced with a Lawrence XL500.
Other pickups on guitar: 2 jackson Jc100 singles
Artists using this pickup: I hope not
You musical style(s): HardRock>Metal
Reason for pickup change: No reason except that the pickup sucked! Horrible, utterless, unusable for any high-gain sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Very cold. The singles were louder.
Tone: Way to trebly, good mid scoup, and no bass.
Sonic evaluation: Charvel straight to a JCM2000. I thought my amp was broken.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This pickup is useless for Jazz and hard rock applications. Perfect for country.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Comments: I have destroyed it. Do not buy this if you like a bassy distortion.

Features :
Pickup features: Humbucking / Passive
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Custom built, using Chandler parts
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: None
Other pickups on guitar: Unknown single coil in neck
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Hard core metal
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: As hot as I've seen a passive get!
Tone: Very balanced
Sonic evaluation: The guitar has a maple bolt-on neck and either an oak or ash body. I run through a DOD Tec-4 and into a Fender Super Six head and custom 2x12 cabinet.
The pickup is a real meat grinder when played hard. It does not feed back uncontrolably though. It has excelent sustain that feeds gradually but surley into a warm feed back. I have always been amazed at the sustain of this guitar. It acts as though it is a neck through design. There is a slight lack of low end, but that is probably due to the body wood. It's not a treble machine, it just doesn't sound like a Les Paul.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Hard rock, metal, an excelent match.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: This is one of many great bridge humbuckers out there, but it does hold the edge on my other guitars pickups in the sustain department. I'd buy one again. Why mess with success
