Impedence or other specs: whuh?

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Squier Jagmaster
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Kent Armstrong HR0-1A
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: More people should.........!!
You musical style(s): Funky chops, Blues, Alternative rock
Reason for pickup change: The AlNiCO HR0-1A's, were a little too "thin-sounding" in my Alder bodied guitar. I wanted something a more Hi-Fi clean tone.....

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hotter than stock pups, about the same as the HR0-1A's
Tone: High string definition with a very balanced output, clear yet creamy in the neck, nice and punchy in the bridge
Sonic evaluation: These are 'Sky' brand pickups, from Kent Armstrong's factory based in S.Korea.
I found the AlNiCo HR0-1A's (note the 'A') version of this pup to be a little too bright in my alder bodied cheapo Jagmaster. The HR0-1's (with ceramic magnets) were recommended to me by my local Luthier. I know that some believe ceramic magnets to be 'brighter' in tone, but this is certainly not the case with the HR0-1's. Running them through a Marshall MG50 DFX amp, these humbuckers are much fuller and "richer" sounding. They sound great under distortion when wired in series, but for more versatility in terms of both clean and dirty sounds I have mine wired in parallel. To my ears they sound a bit like the Duncan Customs, only with better treble extension and more string definition:-)

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Suitable for all styles

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Been playing bass for eleven years, and guitar for about six. If they were stolen I would probably buy them again, since they represent superb value for money, and in my opinion can compete with can compete with much pricier pups from the name brands (S.D, DiMarzio etc).
