Features
:
Pickup features: passive single coil
Impedence or other specs: flat pole pieces
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: 1959 fender strat, restoration project
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: fender single coil
Other pickups on guitar: fender
Artists using this pickup: no idea
You musical style(s): everything from folk to thrash, use this guitar for clean blues tones & punk
Reason for pickup change: orignal p.u died. wanted a p.u that sounded like my other strat- at the time a '75 model.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: spooky resembalance to a cbs era strat- perhaps slightly hotter
Tone: clear bight and snappy, similar to early u2 ideal clean/chorus pickup
Sonic evaluation: use vintage fender princeton or crate 1/2 stack. This pickup is a bit like tofu..tastes like whatever you put it with. Does not have the bite of the staggered pole pu but has even balance for rythmn. Handles distortion VERY nicely but does feed back easily. THIS IS FOR CBS ERA STRAT FANS ONLY! everyone else will be bummed.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: use for clean lead and dirty rythmn. play blues and old school punk

Comments: yes, i put a cbs era copy p.u. in a pre cbs strat, sue me. It is a bit too hot for clean wide open tube amp playing, but there is a volume knob. sounds like the edge clean and like nirvana dirty, metal heads and srv fans will think this is wimpy 'cause it dosen't "crackle". accept its limitations and get a great value.

Pickup features: Single coil, passive
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Mexican Stratocaster
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Stock Mexican Fender
Other pickups on guitar: Schaller S6, Duncan full sized JB
Artists using this pickup: Unaware of who is using
You musical style(s): Blues, rock, variety music
Reason for pickup change: Bad, bad, BAD Fender pickups!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: About the same as the Fender stock pickup it replaced.
Tone: Very balanced; not as ballsy as the S6, but what is? Clear with middle pickup snap to it.
Sonic evaluation: Rivera Jake, Budda Superdrive 30, Mesa Mark III combo. This guitar is the synth driver for my Roland GR33.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Good match. Clear with a nice snap, great snarky 2 and 4 tones in combo with the other pickups, even the humbucker.mi

Comments: I might try a Schaller S6 here if the pickup was somehow lost or stolen. It's a fine pickup, I believe the same one that Joe Naylor puts in his Reverend guitars, two of which I own. A little more output would be nice, but this is whisper quiet and a swell middle pickup for the price. Try getting a new Duncan for $27.00.
