Features
:
Pickup features: Humbucker passive
Impedence or other specs: 13.5 k
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Self made Telecaster clone
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Lace T150
Other pickups on guitar: Lace T100 on the neck
Artists using this pickup: moi
You musical style(s): rock, metal, blues and little jazz.
Reason for pickup change: Not enough balls from the Lace for that crunchy, power sound. I can still switch over to the neck pickup or use the coil tap for clean, ala Clapton, Gilmore style or country twang stuff, even jazz.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: This thing is hotter than hell!
Tone: Low to mid range, trebly with the coil tap.
Sonic evaluation: Used on a Randall 75 watt solid state amp. Tons of sustain and output. I used to need to use a Boss DS-1 to get decent distortion but do not need it with this pickup. But with the gain turned down on the clean channel can still play even decent jazz. Especially versatile and highly recommended is the use of a coil tap. Amazing pickup for the price! I notice on the WD website that the prices for Armstrong pickups are finally going up. They are definitely on par with the Duncans and Dimarzios, etc...
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Rock, metal, blues. With coil tap, can be used on anything

Comments: I love Armstrong pickups. They used to be the best secret in town but their prices are now climbing up to that of the big boys. I've been playing for 30 years and have an acoustic classical, Yamaha steel string acoustic, Gibson ES335, Ibanez Iceman and several homemade 6 and 7 string electrics.
