1961 Fender Spec Stratocaster Pickups, scatter wound with 42ga Heavy Formvar magnet wire, Alnico 5 Vintage staggered magnets, (he did mine with non stagggered pole peices for no extra charge), & black forbon. Great sounding clean and nice warm full crunchy distorted tone. Touch sensitive you can feel the individual notes melt off the strings on these 61's. This is a medium output set. Wax potted to avoid unwanted microphonics. Output: Neck 6.1k, Middle 6.1k, Bridge 6.9k.

Instrument :
What model guitar or bass did you install this in?
A yamaha strat, alder body, maple neck.
What position is it in?
Put it in neck.
What pickup are you replacing?
Stock pickup.
Other pickups installed on the instrument?
Stock middle, dimarzio tone zone bridge.
Any artists using this pickup?
not as far as I know.
Reason for changing the pickup?
The stock was one dimensional, no dynamic qualities.

Sound : 9

What's the output level like?
Medium output, just right.
What amps and effects are you using it with?
Through an old Laney
Tone - Bassy, middy, muddy, trebly, balanced?
Very balanced, nice amount of bass. The treble isnt ice picky which is great. Sound great with chord work up and down the neck. When plugged in with overdrive it creates a fuller sound reminiscent of the 60s strats.
What style of music do you play? Is this a good match?
From blues to heavy rock. It suites blues perfectly, highly recommended. really works for the ray vaughan to the mayer type sound people are looking for.

Overall Rating : 9

If it was destroyed or stolen, would you buy it again or get something else?
Would replace it straight away :)
What do you love about it? What do you hate?
Dynamic qualities, really reacts to the way you pick.
Anything you wish it had?
A bit more power in the high e string, its a tad weak compared to the other pole pieces. But it can be dealt with some pickup heigh altering :)

What model guitar or bass did you install this in? Deluxe AM Strat

What position is it in? All

What pickup are you replacing? Van Zandt Blues/Rock The Van Zandts were really great. I still have them. I just wanted something a little sweeter sounding.

Sound : 9
What's the output level like? Less hot than the Van Zandts. Not as bright as I expected, but that may be partially due to my guitar body too.

Tone - Bassy, middy, muddy, trebly, balanced? Balanced tone overall. Kinda woody. I'm pretty happy with these.

I play classic rock and blues and these fit the bill pretty well. Gotta say the bridge pup is the best I've had in a strat. Great rock tone. It is hooked up to the tone knob so take that into account.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
If it was destroyed or stolen, would you buy it again or get something else? Chris Klein was very helpful and his service was great all the way through the quick delivery. I really like these pickups, but If I had to relace them I might try Lindy Fralin VH and see what all the hype is about.
