Installed the full set in a 2006 Fender USA Stratocaster to replace the stock pickups. I wanted a custom sound without paying a high price, and these pickups deliver. You won't find a better deal anywhere.

Let your ears be the judge. I have posted my video review on You Tube with sound samples from all positions of the before stock pickups and after I installed the Klein pickups. I have played samples on both clean and overdriven channels. I am using a Peavey Delta Blues 210. I added video overlays of which pickup I am playing so you can scroll through the video and easily compare.

I will definately buy another set in the future.
This is "the sound" I have been looking for. I couldn't be more happy.

I am not a professional musician, but I was looking to customize my 2006 Fender Standard USA Stratocaster with a new set of pickups. After searching many of the major manufactures pickups, I just couldn't see myself paying such a high price for their custom pickups. Like I said, I'm not a professional musician, so I'm always searching for the best value on quality products.
After getting discouraged about the prices of the major manufacturers, I began to search on the internet for a small business I could support. As a Texan, this lead my search toward custom handwound pickups in Texas, and low and behold...I found Klein Pickups website.
After reviewing each and every pickup on Chris's website, I couldn't decide which pickup would fit the sound I was looking for. It was pretty late, so I sent Chris an email listing the sounds and styles I liked. The very next day, I received a reply from Chris suggesting maybe a mix and match set. Still confused on which pickups to choose, I gave Chris a call. Chris spent a lot of time with me on the phone explaining how the different pickups would sound, and I was finally able to decide on the S-3 High Output Pro Pickup set. This was on Thursday afternoon. After ordering, Chris told me he was going to get the pickups in the mail the same day. I told him not to worry, and that I wasn't in a hurry, but later that day I received an email that he had indeed gotten them in the mail.
To my surprise, I received the pickups in Saturday afternoon's mail. That's what I call fast service. Later that evening, I installed the pickups myself and was ready to play again.
For my video review, I have attempted to eliminate any factors that would affect the true comparison. I have my amp set at exactly the same settings for both sets of pickups, I use the same strings, and I used the same volume and tone settings on my guitar. I also used the same placement of my video camera to try to capture a true comparison of sound. The only interfering sound I have noticed on the clips is my daugther beating on the door with her drumsticks while I was trying to record. It's hard to get a 2 year old to understand the need for silence during recording, but her drumming adds a little style to the video.
I hope this review is as objective and un-biased as it can be. Everyone has different tastes in sound, but if you are looking for a quality custom handwound set of pickups without a high price, you should check out Klein pickups.

Never heard a 10.... What I do like -- Have had Fat 50's, Duncan Antiquity, Fralin Vintage Hots in other strats that are a 8-9's as well, Fralins at the top for that style. BUT, This Klein is not a true vintagey pickup, I think the reads are like 7.3 or 7.5 for neck and mid, around 8 for the bridge, fairly hotter than a '54. A2 "softer" attack, and stays smooth through clean then into higher gain... use a japanese sd-1, BB preamp, and Jetter Gain Stage blue through a custom made NAU 100 watt. Killer -- punchy, smooth and even like I said across all strings. Will handle clean funky to blues to rock (especially early deep purple). I wouldn't call these all that super chimey and bell-like, but these are higher output. In betweens are quacky and full and don't mush up under gain. No mid hump or scooped mids, but probably less mids than more (a good thing to me) -- not like Texas Specials. Not timid sounding but far from harsh... Really really good balance of heat and finesse.

A no brainer for 80 bucks. I think Chris is trying to get his stuff out there... Compared to $240 for a set of Fender, don't even bother... ask Chris to make whatever you want. Would buy again in a heartbeat, and am probably going to buy some other sets (A5 high output, 54, 69). Chris is a real good guy -- he wound them same day and delivered them same day! I mean he drove to my house to deliver them (I do live close)! No, I have never met him or talked to him before this deal. This guy cares and he makes a quality product. Give him a try
