Klein Pickups S-5 Scooped Stratocaster Set

put them on my fender usa american standard strat.

this is for my american strat which i had texas special pickups installed. i love texas special, but i really liked the tone john mayer makes.

after i switched mine from texas special to this scooped mid of klein's, i absolutely fell in love. this is the tone i was looking for!very much like john mayer's.

i don't think you have to be a john mayer's fan to love this pickups. this pickup has a very strat tone, and i will recommend this to my guitar friends here in Japan. i am sure they love it.

Passive strat style pickups.

I put a set of these into a fender USA 62 vintage RI strat that had the noisless pickups installed when I bought it. Noiseless = toneless by the way!

These are great touch sensitive pickups! I am a big fan of the "throaty" tone they produce when driven. I primarily play blues through a Marshall 1974x. I have never heard the Big Dipper pickups before. All I know is these pickups are great. I have tried the fralins, duncans and van zandts. These are more touch sensitive and dynamic!

I have been playing for 30 years, these pick ups are the "cats meow" of guitar pickups!

I am going to get a few more sets for my other axes!

Here is from Klein Pickups website: This set utilizes Alnico 5 magnets in a vintage staggered configuration and has a scooped midrange. Comes hand wound with Enamel magnet wire and RWRP in the middle position. The set has lots of low end and trebles. The pickup has a scooped midrange and gives an extremely glassy, clean, woody type tone, and a creamy compression. Sound is very similar to SRV, JIMI, & JM. Output: Neck 6.0k, Middle 6.5k, Bridge 7k.

Just installed into my Fender Road Worn Sunburst. I am selling those crappy Tex Mex pickups it came with.

Output is somewhat hot, i'd say medium-hot. The pickups are very john mayerish sounding. They have lots of full bass and clean and clear trebles. The # 2&4 position are about 99% john mayer and just nails it. Very scooped in the midrange and was just what I was looking for.

I would surely buy another set if this set was stolen! I have been playing the strat for 10+ years and just love how close this set gets to the john mayer big dipper set that fender makes. I have played fender big dippers and the klein s-5 scooped pickups just nails the tone. I have played SD pickups for many years and have now just started to swap out pickups.
