Features :
Pickup features: Single coil, low noise, passive
Impedence or other specs: Blue 13.2k, Silver 7.1k, Red 15.1k

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Warmoth Hardtail Strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Rio Grande Jazz Bar and Blues Bar [Bar Pack] P-90s (Yes, in a strat)
Other pickups on guitar: All Lace Sensors now
Artists using this pickup: I've heard of a lot, but I'm not sure
You musical style(s): Rock, blues, indie, anything that catches my ear
Reason for pickup change: I just got back from being away from this guitar for 2 years. I got back and the P-90s just weren't doing it for me, too much of "just one sound". Great sound, and it did a few tricks, but not as versatile as I think I need now.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: I would say very spicy out put. Not so much that it's killer, but it's a noticeable amount more than the P-90s
Tone: All the Lace Sensors are very clear. I would say slightly trebly, but that makes it sound like it's shrill, and it's not! It's a nice clean thing, very BALANCED.
Sonic evaluation: The guitar has the Fender TBX tone control and then goes into a Guitar Fetish FX onboard "tube booster". Very cool.
I'm using a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410. I've got some effects, and people say that Lace Sensors work great in front of effects. I didn't bother to get them out to see, I just wanted to know if the fundamental sound was any good. And it was!
The pickup sounds very clear. Very balanced. Plenty of bright to do all the U2 type stuff (WAY up there), plenty of midrange crunch (the RED LACE SENSOR would be great for 80's rock sound), and then plenty of tight, round bass. Nice.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play rock, blues, and some indie cross-over stuff. I think these pickups would be versatile enough to give you a wide selection of sounds, but not so wide that it's spread too thin.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I really like these things. If lost or stolen, I'd get some more. They're enough punch to get the tubes smokin, but they're also great when you are playing clean. I owned a Silver Fender Lace Sensor, and I loved it, but now I'm wondering why it took me so long to go out and buy a set of them. Very nicely balanced between each of the 5 positions. I can get very pretty sounds.
I'm not sure if guitarists are ever going to be really happy. Let's face it, we're not. That comes with the creative process. But I know that these pickups will stay in my strat for a long time, perhaps forever. This gives me a very usable, versatile single-coil sound and it's free of noise.
Get them and be happy.
