Comments: If somehow (and I cant see how) the pickups were stolen, I would def replace. Ive been playing for 20 years now and feel that I have finally found a sound I am happy with. The combination of Sensors strapped to a Strat through a Big Muff into a Marshall head is close to perfect. It maybe inspired by that SP Siamese Dream/Billy Corgan sound, but whats wrong with that?!? I think first you should look to your record collection for the sound you want to achieve, then figure out that artists setup, replicate and then change the mix to make it your own. I can't rate these PUPS highly enough, they have added a new dynamic to my playing - if you have any other strat other than the most expensive signature models... upgrade the PUPS to these!

Comments: if stolen, i'd probably replace them...i've been playing for about a year and a half...i have a MIM Strat, Zoom GM-200, and an old acostic... this pickup stays clean at higher volumes than stock pickups which i think is a good thing... don't really hate much about it... that's about it... i'd recommend it to anybody who's got a cheap Strat and wants to upgrade the pickups

Pickup features: passive single coil
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: american strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock fender
Other pickups on guitar: duncan humbucker
Artists using this pickup: clapton
You musical style(s): various
Reason for pickup change: the stock single coils hum all the time, really bad around pc monitors etc.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: seems about the same as the fenders, i got one gold model and one silver model, the silver is maybe a little hotter
Tone: the gold is warm and smooth with great tone, the silver is brighter and thinner, but still good
Sonic evaluation: strat through pod
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: these pickups sound about the same as the stock fenders so they'll work for the same type of music, funk, blues, etc.

Comments: in a nutshell, there's no reason not to get these pickups. the sound great and they really do get rid of the hum. if you crank the gain up, you can still get them to hum, but no more than a humbucker would anyway. i used to always put the selector switch in the in between settings which stops the hum and sounds o.k., but sometimes i want just one pickup on at a time, and now that i can do that, i like my strat alot better. I think the gold one sounds better than the silver, but that's just preference.
