Features :
I recently installed Langcaster Humbucking Active Pickups. These are truely amazing. Not only do they have a low resistance of around 100 Ohms, but they also replace my overdrive stomp box. One of my pots has been replaced with a pull/push pot that enables my to flick on the beautiful overdrive and adjust the volume of the overdrive.

Normal coil resistance's are around 6,000 ohms. The inductance that those coils have is around 3 Henrys which is a very high impedance getting higher as the frequency rises. The new pickups have less than a hundredth of the inductance of the old high impedance ones. This extends the range of response and self-resonance is in the supersonic range at over 56 KHz. The result is a pure clear, crisp and open sound with no restriction or muddiness. Bascially this means that you can use a 100 metre guitar cable and there is no loss in treble.

The battery life should last at least 1000 hours of continuous playing time. The battery is only connected when a jack plug is in the output socket of the guitar.

I installed these pickups in my ESP LTD EC50 guitar. A les paul copy. A fantastic guitar with what i thought were pretty good stock pickups. I replaced both humbucker pick ups. I originally had 2 volume pots and 1 tone pot, with a 3 way pickup selector. With the installation of the Langacaster pickups i went to 1 volume pot, 1 tone pot and 1 push/pull pot that controls the clean/overdrive sound and the volume of the overdrive. I orginally thought of putting seymour duncans (SH-4 JB and a SH-2n Jazz) on this guitar, but for a similar price I could get the Langcasters.

Sound : 10
The sound of these pickups is truely amazing. Not only does the clean sound bell like with a sustain that can last over a minute easily, but when you engage the overdrive the sounds just errupts. I compared my stock ESP pickups and then the Langcasters. My ESPs sounded dull and terrible. I hit one of my strings and after a minute it is still singing loudly.

There is a video on you tube comparing the Langcasters to Seymour Duncans. This is a must watch if you are even remotely thinking about changing pick ups. There is a link from the Langcaster site (www.langcaster.com)

Overall Rating : 10
I would recommend these pickups to anyone who is thinking about up grading their pickups. If you are thinking of adding either EMGs or Duncans, then check these out first. Not only are they are great pickup, but then with a flick of the switch the overdrive kicks in and sounds awesome. Effectively you get two sounds in one which is great value.

Features :
The world's first truly low impedance pickups, with built in overdrive. I'm review of course the humbucker version of these awesome pickups.
They are active pickups. Which is the only negative I can think of because you have to replace the battery once every year. Apart from this I must say that these are the most impressive pickups I've ever come across and I'm really satisfied. Not sure how they actually word but it's just a few hundred coils so very low impedance. the best frequency range. also the world's first 8 magnetic pole pickups. yes, the neck pickup has an extra 2 magnets on the higher strings so that there aren't any empty spots if you bend your strings. The overdrive can of course be turned on/off. For certain guitars there's even the option of a mix between overdrive and clean, which sounds surprisingly good. No other maker has made anything like this as far as I know.

Instrument :
I replaced both gibson TM humbuckers in my '08 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with the Langcaster humbuckers.

Sean Clancy, Jan Ackerman both use the same type of pickup but I know of no artist who have used the humbucking version. So I'm the prototype I guess.

I heard the langcaster pickups in action in person, not on video, and I decided that my Gibson pickups were dull and inferior.

Sound : 10
Much louder than any normal pickup. Sustain for life. Well one and a half minutes easy. Really full tones. The whole frequency range is there so every tone is as it should be or even better. It sounds great with a bit of delay. I play all sorts of music and these pickups are fantastic for all sorts of music. If people prefer the muddy, grunty sound of the classic gibson pickup then theres always the option of turning the tone down. This makes it sound identical to a Gibson humbucker. The overdrive is really great. It comes with adjustable gain and the 3 way switch on my gibson which isn't in the current kitset offers me a mixed clean and overdrive channel. This sound is strangely satisfying. It sounds very warm and it's got character. I'm pretty sure that no other guitar has this function.

Overall Rating : 10
I don't think I could play any other pickups. I've been playing for a while now and I started playing classical guitar and moved to heavy metal and now i mostly play blues and rock and these pickups accomodate all of those. I'm using the langcaster stack as well.

I just love the way it sounds and looks. Joh Lang has great taste. I've compared these to fender and gibson and ibanez, all of which sound either dull of weak in comparison.

I wish the humbucker version came with an led like the ones on the actual langcaster guitars. They looks so amazing.

I've definitely sound my sound with this pickup as it more or less offers every sound there is to offer. the built in overdrive is also very cool. Gives you that extra boost if you're using pedals.

Not only is this a totally revolutionary pickup, but it's also got balls!
