Features
:
O.C. hand wound this PAF HB to my specs It is, of course, passive. Pretty much following original PAF specs with nickel cover over alnico II magnets. Impediance is on the order of 7.5K.
Instrument
:
I installed this custom wound pickup in the neck position of a Tele.
In the neck position. It replaced a Kinman single coil noiseless. I made no change to the original bridge pickup. The Kinman is an excellent pickup but I wanted a warmer, more articulate sould for the jazz and western swing I play. This pickup is very close to the ones used by Scotty Anderson except he prefers alnico 5 magnets for a bit higher output. The alnico 2 was my choice.
Sound
:
10
Output is moderate but that is exactly what i ordered. I have several amps; A Crate Power Block & Electro Voice EVM 12-L; Polytone Mini Brute IV; Peavey Classic 50, and my favorite...Peavey Classic 30 retubed with euro tubes. I use no reverb and only a Sonic Stomp pedal except ocassionaly, as required, I will use a Digitec RP-3.
This pickup is beautifully balanced. Warm, articulate, and clean It is perfect for the jazz, western swing, blues, and what ever, that I play. O.C. can wind one for the neck bridge or where ever.
Overall Rating
:
No Opinion
Not only would I replace it if needed. I don't plan to use any other pickup. I have been playing over 60 years. Currently, other than the Tele, I have a Gibson LP Custom 1988, a mid 70's Epiphone Sheraton, a 60's LP Jr radically modified for jazz, and a late model Hohner Jazz guitar. None of them sound as good as the Tele with the O.C. Duff pickup.
The price is very reasonable compared to what you get.
