Artists using this pickup: Don't know but there will be many soon !!
You musical style(s): Pop, Rock, Country.
Reason for pickup change: I wanted the exact sound of a 50's Strat. The Fralins were too hot, good sound but definitely not the original 50's sound. Fender's are nothing like their originals, not even the custom shop ones.

Sonic evaluation: I am using a hand made Mary Kaye Strat with ash body and maple neck also a 52 Telecaster with Hamel pickups. Both through a '76 Twin Reverb. I have been searching for that clean, clear 50's tone for more years than I care to remember, I have tried all the boutique pickups, most of Fender's own etc. etc. I emailed Owen, told him what I wanted and 2 weeks later they arrived here in Scotland. I installed them and just could not believe how good they were, they NAILED that 50's tone to the wall ! The neck is clear (5.8K) woody and authoritive, middle (5.8K) is really useable, think Buddy Holly for that tone. Bridge is pure Hank B. Marvin...lovely. The in betweens 2 and 4 are incredible, great "quack", think Mark Knopfler on early Dire Straits. They are perfectly balanced and calibrated. I have stunned my band members with the sound, they keep pointing at me everytime I play something that needs "that" sound and mouthing...whooah !! Even my wife says they sound far better than anything I've had before..and that's saying something, believe me.
