Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: fairly hot. plenty enough to drive an amp.
Tone: oh my God tone! big fat bottom, warm mids, clear highs. fatter than dimarzio tonezone but cleaner articulation.
Sonic evaluation: using the pod xt live, and boogie triaxis. i rewired the pickup for coil tapping and found quack! great stratty tones. if you are using a mahogany body guitar, buy this pickup! if you suck and want to hide your sloppy picking, get a tonezone. otherwise, this pickup is unbelievable. i chose this over pj marx, dimarzio, seymour duncan, and bill lawrence pickups (which are really good by the way). this pickup has so much life to it. i can't believe they put this on a $200 guitar. i believe these are the real deal evh pickups without the coil tap option (which can be rewired easily). i will buy more of these.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: progressive metal, blues, rock, funk, country
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: If it were destroyed or stolen, would i buy it again or get something else? i would go back to ebay and find more. i would even pay $200 for an olp mm1 guitar, gut it and sell it for parts to get the pickups. they are that good!
