Perceived output level: This pickup has lots of power...at least as much as an aftermarket humbucker like a Dimarzio or Duncan (i know, i own a duncan too)
Tone: Lots of mids, lots of bass, good high, but nothing that shrieks really. You can crank the treble on your amp (me=5150, lots of highs) and it wont make your ears bleed. Hard to make it sound muddy, unless you crank the gain on something like a 5150 or other high gain head.
Sonic evaluation: I use my PRS CE22 through a Boss Chorus Ensemble, Peavey 5150 head and a 4x12 cab with the tone controls set at bass-7, mids-4, high-8, rhythm pregain-2.5, lead pregain-3.5, resonance-2.3, presence-8, and volume at whatever i need it, and this pickup is great. i get a great Randy Rhoads tone, and the pickup also has a slight "popping" sound associated with single coils, which i love cuz of Social Distortion and P-90 pickups.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: all styles i play...metal, rock, punk...it works good. some say its not good for metal, but then again there shouldnt be a stereotype on a "metal" sound...it should be what you want to hear right? Randy Rhoads had one of the greatest tones of all time, and i can get it with this pickup. I can also get Zakk Wylde's sound, and almost a p-90 single coil sound...but this pickup is too fat to be accurate for that. Great sounds.

Comments: If it broke I would probably get it replaced. I defineteally would buy another PRS with this pickup combination, and would put it ina Les Paul or other humbucker guitar.

Comments: The pickups is really awesome. It plays good and feels good. The only reason i won't give it a 10 is because it is not plated. Plated pickups really look good on PRS guitars. The only PRS guitars that have plated humbuckers are the McCarty and Artist IV. If you can afford the Artist, you wouldn't be reading this would you?
