Features :
Pickup features: Humbucking / Passive
Impedence or other specs: According to Peavey's owner's manual, this thing is uniquely tailored for a weird coil cut / tone operation. I don't have it wired that way.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Kramer Nightswan
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Seymour Duncun Full Shread
Other pickups on guitar: None
Artists using this pickup: God only Knows
You musical style(s): Hard rock / Heavey Metal
Reason for pickup change: The Full shread lost its output. I canibalized my Peavey
guitar to get the pickup for the Kramer.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Very hot
Tone: Much low end, good mid crunch
Sonic evaluation: I use a DOD Tec 4 effect processor and a Fender super six head going
into a 2 x 12 homemade cabinet with 2 Pyles. The DOD supplies the
distortion too.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play fairly hard core stuff, but not speedmetal. I like pickups to be as hot as I can get them and this one unexpectedly fit the bill. I would honestly say that this thing could be used by anyone.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I was pleasently surprised when I installed this pickup. It has a
great deal of flexability. By adjusting the pole peices you can
alter the tone a great deal. It is hot enough to set off the clip
indicator on my Processor more often than I like and consequently
feeds back more than some people may be used to. Use noise gate and
it is controlable. At this point I don't think that I could do any
better for my sound by paying 150 Dollars for a "top of the line"
pickup. I would use this one again if I found one.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive single-coil.
Impedence or other specs: I dunno.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Peavey Tracer II '89
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: None. It was stock.
Other pickups on guitar: Peavey Distortion-Class humbucker
Artists using this pickup: Me!
You musical style(s): Rock and/or Roll
Reason for pickup change: None. It was the stock pickup.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Much louder than Fender.
Tone: Incredibly clear. Clearer, in fact than many piezo pickups.
Sonic evaluation: I use a Crate GX-15R, though I've played my guitar through other amps. This is a beautiful pickup for clean playing, and it's a good pickup for distortion, though I use both pickups for rhythm because I like having a more humbuckery sound.
By itself, it's a gorgeous pickup. It's sweet and clear. It's almost as clear as a good piezo, but with fewer problems. It took me hours of aural searching to hear any hum from it, though it is a true single-coil. Much quieter than any other single-coil I've ever tried.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play mostly experimental rock, but this pickup can do it all. With just a twist of the tone knob, this pickup, combined with the super-resonant poplar body, can do any jazz gig on the planet. Heck, you could play MTV Unplugged with this pickup, and nobody'd hear the difference! They'd see it, because the Tracer guitar is very super-Straty, but they'd never hear it.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Given a choice between selling this pickup and hanging out with the Spice Girls, I'd go for the Spice Girls (Hey, that redhead is hot!). Given a choice between selling this pickup and walking on hot coals, I'd walk on the coals.
This pickup is so clear, I found my tone. After all, your tone comes from your hands. I can pick up any guitar in the world, through any amp and effects in the world (or not) and sound like me, and the clarity of this pickup helped me realize that and improve it.
