These came stock on my Cayman Blue Schecter Exotic Star. Both Neck and Bridge position.

The output is near insane levels for passive pickups and the sound is very clear. They have a very warm low end but can also squeal with the best of em. Split them for a single coil strat "spank" sound, but IMO they dont sound as good as an actual strat, but for the versatility you can go single coil sound and then in 1 second go back to humbucker...versatility rules. Clean these sound boomy and clear in both positions. The low end on the neck pickup is almost too much and can easily push an amp or system too hard and make it crap out on you, but if you have a good amp or system, get ready for a great ride. They get a 9 for the weak sounding single coil mode and the heavy low end in neck position. I am a rock/blues/grunge musician playing for 10 years now and it works great for my lead playing.

These are some of my favorite humbucking pickups I have played. Excellent value, nice looks, versatile. Everything you want in a humbucker. The rest of the Exotic Star is not as good as these pickups. I feel the construction, at least on my guitar, is not as good as it could be. I have a very loose pot, a nick in the fretboard, it was missing the upper strap button (not even a hole) and it has some tuning problems, but the pickups are very good.

Perceived output level: Loud, like overwound P-90's, also split mode is stronger than Strats
Tone: Full and balanced in HB or SC. HB drives tubes with clarity, no darkness w/mag rods. SC gots the boinky Fendery thang, put a .01cap on the vol. pot to roll-off for twang
Sonic evaluation: Test drove with 20W Valve Crate Class A and Boss GT8 Modeler thru some Roland. Great with either. HB, Big and Bold N or B position. HB: responsive and ballsy like P90's, yet not as tight/edgey, well they have a Fendery attack. It's the mag rods, so single note lines are not real thick. It's a tweener pup that works well for sparkle or heavey saturation.
SC: nails Fendery boink in both positions and in combo, it's all about Tele.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Great for blues prolly even neu-metal/Emo as it attacks hard then gets pretty when split . All will like for N pos. and if you lean any towards SC vibe the bridge is sweet too.

Comments: These pups crushed a Duncan equiped Schecter. They are big and open. I favor P90's, so these are a silent alternative with near Fender SC tones to-boot. They'd be sick in any SH body. BTW, no one is offering this type of pup other than Bill Lawrence...FDR used to on a 70's Tele. Over 2 decades playing and I do tinker with pups and wiring way to much. I've already tried rods mixed with a bar mag coil, so when I saw the Schecter Exotic I had some reference. Very nice pups indeed.
