:

Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Gibson '57 Classic
Other pickups on guitar: Gibson '57 Classic
Artists using this pickup: Slash, some others
You musical style(s): all classic styles of rock, funk, blues, also ambient/downtempo electronic music
Reason for pickup change: Wasn't satisfied with 57 Classic
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: classic lower-output vintage
Tone: Skewed towards higher mids and treble
Sonic evaluation: I playing a Les Paul through 60s-70s vintage Fender combos (Deluxe, Vibrolux) or a newer Blues Jr. Most of the time I'm just using a POD Pro for recording and practicing.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This is the Slash sound, for what it's worth. It could work with any classic style except perhaps Jazz.
Overall Rating

Comments: I wouldn't try this pickup again, but that doesn't make it a bad pickup. I originally got this because I wasn't satisfied with the '57 Classic in the bridge, and this one got good reviews. I liked this pickup at first, but missed the complexity of the '57. The Duncan has a nice high end, but a bit too scooped in the low mids. It definitely has the Slash sound, though, and if you want that, then get this pickup. It's not my sound though, and the '57 Classic went back in the bridge where it will stay (for awhile :-) ).
