Features :
Pickup features: Passive, single coil, Alnico II magnets.
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: None. These were stock.
Other pickups on guitar: APTL-1 Lead/Bridge pickup
Artists using this pickup: I Don't know, but Slash uses the Alnico II Pro humbuckers :)
You musical style(s): Any American music, classic to modern.
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Alot less output than the bridge version, which was to be expected. Not a bad quality, as I feel output levels on pickups are less important in the day and age of the "Gain knob" amp.
Tone: Soft, mellow. Even for a Telecaster it could easily have a serious Jazz use (I am not a fan of Jazz guitar)! Smooth, NOT muddy or "flubby". A great neck pickup.
Sonic evaluation: This pickup shines the best when blended with the shrill bridge pickup. It can roll off some of the brightness and "bite" for parts that need a slightly mellow touch. On it's own it ranges from very "Strat-ish" to a smooth mellow Jazz tone. All being said, neck pickups in Telecasters are usually not as key to the reason people play Telecasters... they want the big "twang" from the bridge pickup. Alot of times the neck pickup is a Telecaster's weak point (one reason Keith Richards pops a humbucker into the neck spot). This pickup is great for mellow cleans that a neck humbucker would make too dark, or for nice "pretty" tones... overdriven it has a SRV, blues kind of sound.
I play either a Fender Blues Junior or a Marshall JCM2000. All tube, all the way. Either way this pickup had alot of usefull applications.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play it all. Anything American. This pickup doesn't cover a ton of ground, but it can do things you'd be surprised at. Mellow cleans, to Bluesy sounds. ALL without being too dark.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: If this pickup got wrecked, I would just leave a gaping hole in the neck pickup slot until I could replace it - NECK PICKUPS are almost an after-thought in some guitars and some applications. I would definitely replace it though when I got up the money :) It is a very usefull pickup on it's own, BUT I really love what it does blended with the bridge pickup.

Features :
Pickup features: Single coil, chrome cover, neck position
Impedence or other specs: ?

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Custom Telecaster
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Rio grande Tallboy
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Rio Grande tallboy bridge
You musical style(s): blues
Reason for pickup change: The Rio Grande does not fit in the pickguard hole along with the screws to hold it into the pickguard. I've ruined two of them trying to make them fit. The Rio Grande wasn't warm enough.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Not as hot as the Rio Grande, but warmer and a little more vintage sound.
Tone: Balanced but with a few more mids
Sonic evaluation: Custom tele with ash body, no effects into a Peavey Delta blues 210 or Fender deluxe reverb reissue.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues, neck only. Probably good for anything.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: Great sounding, moderately priced pickup. Easy to install.
