Features
:
Single coil, over-wound to 9.6K ohms, South polarity.
Instrument
:
Fender Classic 60s' Strat as full Antiquity ll Surf set w/ RWRP mid.
Sound
:
No Opinion
This pick-up is an enhanced version for this series, and as such sounds excellent, however, it is delivered wired in-phase to the RWRP mid in the set so will not provide hum-cancelling in position #2 mid/bridge.
Wiring it for such results in a severe loss of output.
The remedy for this is to use this with the Antiquity Texas Hot, which has opposite magnetic polarity, as a mixed set, and wire the bridge out-of phase with RWRP; the supplied neck pick-up is already so. This will give full output, tone and hum-cancelling in position #2 & #4.
Overall Rating
:

When used as described, it achieves its' full potential as an over-wound bridge for the Strat.

Features
:
Pickup features: single coil
Impedence or other specs: 9.75 k ohms
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Japanes 50's reissue
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Fender Texas Special
Other pickups on guitar: Texas Specials (neck & middle)
Artists using this pickup: not sure
You musical style(s): mostly blues, blues-rock ala Beck, Clapton/Cream, Hendrix, Allman Bros.
Reason for pickup change: The Antiquity I in my Strat Plus outshines the Texas Special. I wanted to try the Antiquity II in the other guitar...
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: louder than stock, noticeably so...
Tone: has a great shine without being shrill, very compressed sound also... unique and really cool
Sonic evaluation: The guitar is being played through a SLO-100 w/ Mesa half back loaded with Soldano X12000's. Here's the deal: The Antiquity I is a dead ringer for Beck on "Wired". The Antiquity II is a dead ringer for Joe Perry on "Train Kept a'Rollin'". You aren't going to find this sound anywhere else, I guarantee you that. The lead tone is a visceral scream, but not shrieky or shrill. It is really loud, and really compressed. I don't know how they do all this, but it works. The lower strings have that Strat rasp that I wanted to get. This pickup doesn't mind steppin' up to the plate. Don't think this is like a Hot Rails, or another super hot type of thing. And, it is single coil, so it does hum, but its not really conspicuous.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Best for blues, blues-rock, and undoubtably surf, though I don't play surf...

Comments: This is something to get IF you know what you are looking for. Like always, get the tone pot fixed if you are using a vintage/vintage re-issue guitar, that way you can roll the highs a bit when you need to. Just like the Antiquity I, I will never let it go...
