Pickup features: Aged single coil set.
Impedence or other specs: Hi Z, reverse wound middle PU, alnico II magnets
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: 1992 Fender '57 Reissue Strat

Pickup being replaced: stock Fender
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Classic and alt R&R, some country and blues.
Reason for pickup change: I live in position 4, so not having a reverse wound middle
PU used to drive me nuts. Also felt the stock Fender PUs
were OK, but a little thin.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: A little hotter than stock, but not much.
Tone: Balanced tone. Good midrange spank AND sparkling highs.
Sonic evaluation: This is the best $100 I ever spent. Period. Sounds like a whole new
guitar (and I liked the old one). Absolutely AMAZING set of PUs! I
never thought I could get sparkle and spank out of the same guitar. I
have a set of Duncan vintage staggered PUs on a G&L ASAT-3. These have
more sparkle and less mids- probably the alnico II magnets.
These will work best for those players seeking a vintage strat hang.
Don't buy these if you're a shred head.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Best for country and surf. Still great choice for R&R and blues.
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: Your jaw will drop the first time you play your axe with these PUs.
$100 was an outrageous deal (long story). These are well worth it
even if you have to pay list price. Do it!
