Features :
Pickup features: Single coil vintage tele
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Fernandez TE2 Tele copy
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Stock Fernandez pickup and Dimarzio Twang King
Other pickups on guitar: Van Zandt Tru-Vintage Flat Pole
Artists using this pickup: Claude Monet & Pablo Picaso
You musical style(s): Blues, Country, Original, Altered Tunings, Rock, Gospel, Soul, Etc....
Reason for pickup change: No real reason other than I love to tinker and always think that a new pickup will be just what I need to take me to tone heaven! Also, I just had it sitting there for 6 months and I had sold the twang King set. The Twang Kings are excellent sounding pickups. However, I could not leave well enough alone and had to try one of the two Van Zandts I had picked up in trade. I liked the Van Zandt bridge pup so well, I decided to try the antiquity and if I liked it, I would sell the TK set. Well...I liked it!! Said bye bye to the twang kings, installed the VZ and the antiquity and never....well, never say never....looked back.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: A bit more output than most stock Fender neck pups I've tried. About the same output as the Twang King
Tone: Sweet, rich, lovely tone. I really like the sound of tele neck pickups and hang out in that area quite a bit of the time. The antiquity is certainly one of the better sounding neck pickups i've tried. Very anxoius to try the antiquity bridge!
Sonic evaluation: I'm using a Fernandez TE2 tele copy. Excellent guitar in both looks and quality. The stock neck pickup actually sounded very, very good. This is just better. What can I say. I usually plug into a Roland Blues Cube, Fender Pro Jr, Behringer GM110, Old Rockman, Morley JD10. Sounds great in all applicaitons.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: As above, blues, worship, original, altered tunings. Mostly playing with the Worship team at my church.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: If it quit working, I would either go with both antiquity neck & bridge or try the Van Zandt neck pup as I'm so extremely happy with the VZ tele bridge pup. These pickups sond much better than the stock fenders in my 71 Tele. However, I'll get back to you on this as soon as I replace the 1 meg pots in the 71 with 250K pots. I have a feeling this may even the playing field a bit. That said, the antiquity is one of the finest sounding neck pickups I've tried. I also love humbuckers in the neck position of teles. In my USAGC thin line, I have a Seth Lover hummer. Now that is my ultimate tone! It mixes so well with the VZ bridge pup. While I love Albert Collins, I certainly do not sound like him....Who does other than Kenny Blue Ray!....or play like him....however, it has always been my desire to have a tele like his since it sounds so good and looks so cool! The Fender Albert Collins model is certainly an awesome guitar, but who the hell can afford to spend $3K??? I've got less than $500.00 bucks in mine and it sounds and plays soooooo good. I guess I should quit yaking and save this for another review!!

Features :
Pickup features: Single Coil
Impedence or other specs: 8.02

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1963 Fender Telecaster Mahogany Body
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Fender Tex-Mex
Other pickups on guitar: Lindy Fralin rewound lead
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Blues
Reason for pickup change: Tex-Mex was cutting in and out

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Medium level, not as loud as the Lindy Fralin (which is 5% overwound)
Tone: Smooth, heavy on the mids but well-balanced
Sonic evaluation: Mostly play through variety of small, tube amps (e.g. mid-50s Supro or new Epiphone Electar 10). Often play it through my Hartke Kickback 1200 bass amp for gigs.
Pickup sounds great whatever amp I play it through.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I'd describe my style as incompetent blues!

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: Pickup sounds great on it's own, in terms of tone and level it really complements the Lindy Fralin lead, and it blends well with it in mid-position. Not sure if I'd buy another one or try a Lindy Fralin, but that's no criticism of the SD, just a complement to the Lindy Fralin rewind :->
