Features :
it's a JB humbucker that fits into a single coil slot, so no cutting up of your pickgard required.

Instrument :
I put this in the bridge position of an american standard strat. It's replacing the stock single coil.

Sound : 8
This pickup sounds infinitely better than the stock single coil it replaced. It has a lot of output, so you'll have to adjust pickup height to taste. I play through a mesa boogie 50 caliber plus head and a homemade 2x12 with 100watt celestions. The pickup (or maybe the strat itself) tends to be a bit trebly, so I just turn the tone control down a little. I use this to play rock, heavy rock, metal. One reviewer stated that this pickup will bring out ALL mistakes you make while playing, and he/she was right. It "picks up" everything, the strings scraping against the frets, the scratching of your calloused fingertips on the strings, nothing escapes this pickup. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing? It's made me more aware of my playing and forced me to have to play better.

Overall Rating : 8
If it were destroyed, I'd probably buy a full sized JB and just alter my pickguard. I like the full sized JB and have them in the bridge of all my les pauls. I think the JB junior is just more sensitive than the full sized JB and will illuminate any and all mistakes you make. The ones in my Les Pauls don't. I don't know how I feel about this pickup yet? I definitely don't hate it. Maybe I just have to get used to it? Overall, it definitely improved the sound of my strat. Its a quality pickup, no doubt, but like all pickups and all gear, it's all subjective.

Features :
This pickup is a single coil sized passive humbucker.

Instrument :
I have this pickup im my baby. A 2008 american made fender stratocaster. It's in the bridge position. This replaced the stock bridge single coil. All i know is my favorite guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's singer and guitarist has the full sized version of this in his stratocasters. The stock bridge pickup wasn't giving me the sound i liked and it hummed a lot.

Sound : 10
This is one hot pickup with very high output I use a Marshall MG100DFX with this with no effects what so ever. My eq is generaly the treble at 10 and the bass and middle at about 5 and the contour at 7. I play anything by Green Day or any other punk style band and it is a insanely good match for punk rock. This pickup wouldn't be good for soft music or stuff that doesn't use a lot of gain because this pickup just screams to be used with a lot distortion.

Overall Rating : 10
If anything happened to this pickup I might get the full sized version installed but there is really no difference between the two to be completely honest. I have been playing for a little over a year and use this pickup in the bridge postion of my 2008 american made stratocaster plugged directly into the Marshall MG100DFX combo amp with a monster standard 100 cable connecting them. Everything is awsome about it. The Best pickup for punk rock. All punk rockers hail the JB! I absolutely didnt compare this to any other pickups. this is hands down the best pickup if you play any kind of punk.

Features :
Single Coil Humbucking Passive Pick up. Check the web address for specs.

Instrument :
Installed in the bridge position of US 62' reissue Stratocaster already mounted with SUHR Landau singles in the middle and Neck positions. I am replacing the Bridge Suhr Landau single coil.

I needed a smoother, thicker, chunkier sound in my bridge position. Without a doubt the SUHR pichups are the best single coils out there as I've tried the Fralins, Fender Custom shop, and Andersons (if vintage Strat tone in neck and middle is your sound).

Sound : 9
I utilize severl amps, rack equipment and analog pedal. My opinion is less is more though. The amp I use most is a Mesa Booogie single rectifier. I run a lexicon MPX-1 through the loop for Reverb and delays- runs into a Midi( bradshaw style) switching foot pedal. I use a Radial Tonebone trimode for other occasional preamp tones and a vintage modded crybaby wah.The Tone is great. Even balanced and chunky when needed. Great match for my Suhr singles. I play mostly Rock, Fusion, Blues, instumental rock.

Overall Rating : 9
Own boat loads of guitars and gear that I am slowly reducing with time. Again,....Less is more usually. I like this pick up for a direct replacement into the Strat Bridge. Normally I would use my Lukather Musicman with EMG's ( which are in my opinion the best available ). This duncan is a great little pickup though for the price. Very satisfed with the resources Duncan also gives on their website for wiring options as well. I have been playing 30+ years as a session artist,Part time touring musician, hobbyist.

Single Coil Sized Humbucker. P{assive Pickup.....BLAH BLAH BLAH IF youre reading this you probably know all the specs of this pickup.

Instrument :
I put this into the bridge position of a 50's RI Strat replacing the stock single coil. Replaced it because I wanted to try single coils.... but ended staying with the humbucker sound... Single coils just sound kinda thin to me...

Sound : 7
Pickup is hot... I use this with mainly my stage rig, which is a 5150 head plugged into a 400w Ampeg cab. Also sometimes use it with my Peavey Valveking Half stack. Alwayz ran thru my Boss ME50. Pickup is kinda whiney, im not sure if its highs or mid-highs but its screamin... not sure if I mean that in a good way either. I play in a typical bar cover band, not sure if I like the pickup yet, like i say.... screams a lil too much.

Overall Rating : No Opinion

Features :
Humbucker in Single coil size

Instrument :
Guitar: Rockinger Strat Copy, self-built
Position: Bridge
Replaced: Fender Vintage Noiseless
Other: Fender Vintage Noiseless Neck, DiMarzio Solo Middle
Artists using it: Dave Murray, Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden)
Reason for change: I wanted a humbucking tone, just for a change (I really liked the Fender Pickup and maybe I will put it back in some day)

Sound : 9
Output: hotter than a full-size-PAF humbucker, but slightly less than a big JB)
Amps: Rack system - ENGL E 530 and Peavey Rockmaster tube preamps, Roland GP-100 Effects and amp modeling, Pevey Classic 50/50 Power Amp w/ EL-84s
Tone: Has the typical upper mids of an SH-4, not too much bass, never muddy, but not shrill or harsh either (if properly installed). NOTE: It makes a very big difference how close you place it towards the strings. I would recommend to place it just a tad lower than you would think. If you want to sound it smoother, turn the screws of the bridge half of the PU lower.
Style: Classic Rock, Blues, and Metal if I'm in the mood..
A great match for Rock and Metal; For Blues - better in parallel mode (for which I use a Push-Pull pot.
Positions: Built for speed -- eeeeh, bridge position. Would probably be too loud for the neck position. Neck version available, but haven't tried it yet.

Overall Rating : 9
I would definitely buy it again.
Have been playing for 25 Years. Got like ten guitars (Strat, Les Paul, Floyd-Rose equipped guitars with Bolt and Thru-Neck...)and pretty versatile gear (Rack system, Johnson J-Station Modeler, various Cabinets).

I liked the orginal JB (in another guitar) a little better, but I didn't want to spoil my Strat's gorgeous natural tone by milling away a whole lot of wood in the crucial section at the bridge. After all, it's got a ceramic magnet for an AlNiCo with that much power would be too big for the size of the JB Jr. (I asked Seymour Duncan's Support and they told me that they build an AlNiCo JB jr. on custom order, but it has a much lesser output). So all I miss is a little more warmth but it could just as well be my imagination cos I KNOW its ceramic...
After all, the best possible compromise if you want a JB but dont want to alter the wood.
Searching: I always have and always will, ain't that part of the fun? But as it is, I am very pleased.

Features :
Single-coil sized passive Humbucker. 4 conductor wiring allowing splitting of coils.

Instrument :
I had this installed by a very experienced friend in the bridge of my Feline custom 50's "St##t" with ash body/maple f'board. The pickup is in use with the middle and neck pickups from my 1996 Fender US Vintage Reissue '57 Strat.
I had a STSP "neck-on" mini-toggle added to allow for neck and bridge together for a tele-like tone.

Sound : 10
I use a Fender '65 Twin Reverb amp, Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Customised Dunlop wahs, Boss Giga Delay, R Mayer Voodoo-Vibe and Octavia, couple of other bits. I've read a lot of bad reviews of this pick-up saying it's far too trebly, I wonder if these people thought of the obvious by using the tone control because whilst it is extrememly trebly with all treble on, there is a very broad range of tones available by rolling some bass on to it, in a couple of sweet spots it's very hard to tell this pick-up and a full size humbucker apart with a perfect balance between bass, mids and highs.
I was also surprised that despite the quite high output of this pick-up, it does sound extremely well balanced with the Fender American Vintage single coils with a little adjusting.
I have had the tone control for the middle pick up taken off and transferred to control the JB Jr and the mini toggle allows a seriously convincing "Hot Tele" twang with both neck and JB Jr on.
Another great side-effect of adding this pick-up is that when bridge and middle are on, only one coil of the JB jr comes on giving a more biting and skankier/funkier tone than bridge and middle usually does on standard 3 single coil strats.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I would buy this pickup again but I hope I never have to as this custom made strat is one of the best I've played, I COULDN'T replace this guitar!!
This pick-up is great for someone who like me needed more versatility from a strat but doesn't really like most full-size humbuckers that much.

Features :
Pickup features: passive single coil sized humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Epiphone strat copy
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: stock single coil
Other pickups on guitar: stock
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): hard rock, metal, funk
Reason for pickup change: wanted humbucking sound in bridge and no single coil hum on high-gain settings.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: I would say it's a pretty hot pickup. I have a 57 classic plus in the bridge of my epiphone les paul standard( much better and more satisfying pickup anyday compared to jb jr.) and with the same setting on an amp you can tell there's a significant jump in gain with the JB when it's distorted.
Tone: My problem with the pickup is : too much treble when distorted. It doesn't sit comfortably with other pickups or guitars that I use. It has a good bass chunk that I like and the mids are close. Clean the mids are much too present and it sounds dark compared to the single coils.
Sonic evaluation: I currently use the les paul as my main guitar with a POD XT Live through a Cavrin 2 by 12" solid state 150 RMS combo driving a 4 by 12" carvin cab(monster volume!). This is what I use for live playing and have the epi strat for a backup. Whenever I use the strat with the JB JR., it makes my sound on the verge of ear piercing.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: The JB Jr. would probably be good for Pantera (you could definetly hit those ear piercing highs with this baby!).

Overall Rating : 6
Comments: I would say if you are looking for the humbucker sound go with the real thing. I've been playing 12+ years and I know what my ears like to hear. I have heard some pretty crappy full size humbuckers too (most stock ones on korean imports; they always seem to be unpotted and very microphonic). Overall, the JB JR is a desent pickup and you will not have to worry about microphonic feedback because it is potted. If you are looking for a metal or hard rock sound and you have it in your main guitar be sure that you will be turning down the treble on your amp. I personally would not buy this pickup again because it has too much treble for my tastes.

Features :
Pickup features: single coil sized humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Squire Standard Stratocaster
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: stock single coil
Other pickups on guitar: stock single coils
Artists using this pickup: Jeff Beck
You musical style(s): hardcore, modern anarcho punk, black/death metal, grindcore, 80s rock, classic rock, blues, funk, alternative, expreimental
Reason for pickup change: single coil on the bridge was too unpleasant and had weak output, which didn't drive the preamp enough

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot, but not super hot. but slightly hotter than normal humbuckers, and wayy hotter than single coils
Tone: Balanced but more concentrated on the high mids and treble, brighter for a humbucker, but thats exactly what i wanted, but noticably bassy and fatter than single coils, on clean channels they weren't clear but they were well defined on hi-gain and vintage tone channels
Sonic evaluation: I use it in a 5150, DSL50, avt50 and some other amps, obvously the DSL50 and 5150 sounded the best with this humbucker, i used very crunchy high-gains, like the gain up to 8 on the channels with highest gain, and cut the mids and turned up presence all the way and brought up the bass and treble and balanced them.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: hardcore, modern anarcho punk, black/death metal, grindcore, 80s rock, classic rock, blues, funk, alternative, expreimental

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: Yeah if these were ripped off my axe id get another set becuase theres no better pickups for what i do for this axe but if had a fullsized humbucker slot, id put on Duncan distortions, becuase there hotter. Still the hotness is enough to sastify me, the tone is very good, not the all time best but comes close. I was choosing between this and the Hot Rails but i wanted a brighter crunchier tone so i went with these, which im happy i did. I've been playing for a more than 2 years, don;t judge me on my years on guitar tho cuase i can play eruption. It has very fluid smooth sustaining lead tones and great harmonics. Crunchy and bright on the rythm end.

Features :
Pickup features: single coil-sized humbucker, passive
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: custom made, solid body, hardtail bridge, natural finish (no paint). A great one!
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: fender vintage noiseless
Other pickups on guitar: fender vintatage noiseless
Artists using this pickup: no idea
You musical style(s): pop, rock, funk, bluess, jazz, new age, ethno, balkan,...
Reason for pickup change: wanted to try it : you know, "all - in - one", etc, the idea of having all the sounds, the idea of "all purpose guitar". Well, being a man on the run, it overhelmed me for a while...

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: not hotter than the vintage noiseless by fender when at same height.
Tone: it sounds middly and muddy compared to the fender vintage noiseless
Sonic evaluation: I play with an old 65 watts Music Man with 2 x 10" spkrs or hire a Twin Reverb 1964 with JBL spkrs for record sessions and bigger concerts. I use a RAT distortion and Tech 21 TRI A.C. for overdriven sounds, Electro - Harmonix and Boss stuff. I play a lot live (up to 7 times a week).
I found that even if I don't like this pick up very much it still can be used.Sounds interesting with distortion.
READ THIS :
The reason I don't like very much the JB jr. is because it sacrifies the clean sound f the guitar. I have a switch that enables two combinations of pick ups - all three together and bridje and neck together. You don't have this ferature on normal strats, etc... The JB jr. messed the beautiful clean sounds i was used to - the bribge and middle, the bribge and neck, and all three together. I actually wanted to sacrifice some clean sounds for an outstanding distorted bridge tone. It didn;t work out. I realized that for this guitar the clean sound was the soul of it. I have to say that the Fender vintage noiseless work great both with clean and dirty, even very, very dirty tones. The JB jr. sounds interesting with distortion but I found I was lost in the band with it. So I returned the Fender pick up.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play everything I want and everything I get paid for.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Comments: I am selling this one away. I just don't need it. If I want a humbucker sound I would buy a Gibson or PRS or whatever, not put a squashed humbucker in a custom made beauty.... That's for now.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Fender American Standard
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Original Fender single coils
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Unknown
You musical style(s): Blues, Jazz and Fusion
Reason for pickup change: Noise reduction and to experiment with a hot sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Normal
Tone: Flat sounding
Sonic evaluation: Yamaha DG60-FX plus studio power amp and speakers with various pre amps. (hughes & kettner, Tech 21 and Ensoniq).

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues, Jazz and Fusion. They product some good sounds when overdriven. Not so good when playing clear.

Overall Rating : 7
Comments: I would not replace them, I have other gibson copies that product a nice humbucking sound, I am now interested in strat sounds. I am thinking of replacing them with the original single coils. If I get good results I will consider some of the other noise cancelling options going round.
