Price Paid: US $62

Features :
Pickup features: Passive Humbucker
Impedence or other specs: n/a

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1979 Gibson Les Paul Standard
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Origonal 1979 Gibson humbucker
Other pickups on guitar: Seymour Duncan JB (Bridge)
Artists using this pickup: n/a
You musical style(s): 70's rock
Reason for pickup change: Origonal pickup developed feedback (squeal) problem over
the years. Also wanted a tighter sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Medium output. Similar to origonal Gibson.
Tone: Better balance than origonal. Less mids, more highs. Bass similar but less flabby.
Sonic evaluation: Ampeg ReverbRocket 1-12" reissue and Marshall JCM2000/DSL100 with
4-12 1960A cabinet. DOD FX-7 multi effects unit.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Works great for 70's rock rythm guitar parts both clean and with some overdrive.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: This pickup was the surprise of the year for my setup. It's basically very clean and articulate
with good crisp highs and a nice solid low end. Less midrange honk than
the gibsons. Not a HOT pickup but it overdrives nicely. Very smooth.
Also, with a coil tap it has a surprisingly sweet single coil tone. And,
it's much quieter than I thought it would be. This is an overall great rythm
guitar pickup.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive Humbucker
Impedence or other specs: 7.1K DC Resistance

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez 335 copy
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Ibanez Super 58
Other pickups on guitar: 70's Gibson
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): rock, blues, radio covers, etc
Reason for pickup change: Experimenting, seemed like a good idea at the time

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Low, like a vintage PAF
Tone: Balanced, full but not boomy or harsh
Sonic evaluation: Has a single coil vibe to it, while still being a humbucker (just a hint of strat quack). Has a soft attack which really does give a nice single note jazz solo sound, but this may not be to everyone's taste. It suits the 335, but I didn't like it so much when I tried it on a solid body; it seemed to lack a little bite.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: OK for many styles, but not for aggressive sounds.

Overall Rating : 7
Comments: I'm happy with it, but one of them is enough.

Features :
Pickup features: passive humbucker; 4 conductor wiring
Impedence or other specs: beats me

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Epiphone Flying V
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: stock Epiphone humbucker
Other pickups on guitar: Seymour Duncan Distortion humbucker in bridge
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): hard rock, heavy metal
Reason for pickup change: The Epi neck humbucker wasn't a very good match for the
Duncan Distortion, and it was a little muddy as well.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: medium, slightly louder than the Epi pickups but
Tone: Mellow (relative to the Distortion), fairly balanced
Sonic evaluation: I like it a lot. It's perfect for fingerpicking on the clean
channel or getting the Clapton "woman tone" using a lightly distorted
tone. With higher gains, it stays warm -- think Kirk Hammett's
intro solo in "Fade to Black". It also interacts with the bridge
Distortion pickup quite well; instead of getting a harsh, out-of-phase
sound in the in-between position, I get a nice average of the
Distortion's power crunch and the Jazz's warmth.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Great for just about everything I can think of. Country players might want something thinner (but they'll use single-coils anyway)

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would buy this pickup again in a second. It's the perfect match
for the Duncan Distortion; Hamer uses it in many of their models
to complement the Duncan JB, also. It's just a rocking pickup.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
