Other pickups on guitar:two Seymour Duncan cool rail's
Artists using this pickup:I dont know.
You musical style(s): metal, rock and blues.
Reason for pickup change:not enough variety, muddy sounding and not enough gain.

Sound : 8
Perceived output level: very low bareley audible to medium gain depending on gain setting on pickup.
Sonic evaluation:I go through my peavy guitar in to a modded boss blues driver,in to aline 6 pod xt in to Marshal mg 250 with a BBE sonic maximizer in the effects loop.
Tone:Nice medium ballance that can be adjusted in many different ways.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:It is great for blues and rock but it need's a little more gain for heavy metal. But I solved that problemb read below.

Overall Rating : 8
If it were stolen I would deffently get another one.
How long have you been playing? About 15 years
What other gear do you own? A buetiful Agile 2800 les paul copy with a Seymour Duncan custom custom, which by the way blows the doors of of the epiphone copy.Epiphone valve junior head which is really good for blues.
What do you love about it? What do you hate? I love the fact that you can adjust it and the other pickups to dial in almost any amp on my line 6 xp as apposed to other pickups which I can only get a handfull to sound good. The one thing I would change is I wish it had a little more gain. But I fixed that problemb with a EMG afterburner that gives you up to 20 db of boost.Iset it between a third and a half and then im in metal heaven and it turns my 8 rating into a 10.

Features :
Pickup features: built in equilizer, humbucker, split to single coil, active and passive,eq also works on the other pickups.
Impedence or other specs: any, simply dial in the setting

Instrument :
Model of guitar Peavy exp limited series.
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced:Seymour pearly gates
Other pickups on guitar;Seymour Duncan coolrails in neck and middle
Artists using this pickup:Dont know.
You musical style(s): METAL,ROCK,BLUES
Reason for pickup change:Mushing sounding and not enough gain.

Sound : 8
Perceived output level;Very low to medium.
Tone:Very tight, and I love the way you can adjust it and the neck and middle pickup for almost any amp settings,I have a pod XT.This thing makes it work on almost any amp setting, while other pickups only give you a hand full.
Sonic evaluation:My other equipment is a modded boss blues driver used as a preamp driver toa pod xt into a Marshal MG 250 with a BBE sonic maximizer in the effects loop.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:It will do almost anything,bu excells in hard rock and metal.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Comments:The pickup is one of the most important thing's in teguitar musical chain and this thing delivers.
If it were stolen, i would buy another one to replace it!The reason I only gave it an eight is because stock it does not have quite enough gain.To solve this problemb I added a EMG 20 db gain booster.Set it between a quarter and half way and theen you are in perfect 10 heaven.I have been playing about fifteen years.PS I recemond the emg after burner for any one looking for a little more gain in a regular pickup.

Features :
Pickup features: built in equilizer, humbucker, split to single coil, active and passive
Impedence or other specs: any, simply dial in the setting.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: fender stagemaster 6-string h-s-h
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: jeff beck
Other pickups on guitar: stock, no need for anything else.
Artists using this pickup: i think steve morse plays something from shadow.
You musical style(s): jazz, death metal, progressive, classical
Reason for pickup change: not enough variety in the jeff beck pickup. not quite hot enough to rock, not quite smooth enough for jazz.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: very low bareley audible to full on onslaught of volume, gain, and tone
Tone: ive used different settings on it, i can get a dead on telecaster, or strat, and still change the settings to get gibson neck sounds from the bridge.
Sonic evaluation: at the time of purchase, i was going from a fender stagemaster, to a boss metalzone, into a peavey classic chorus 130 2x12 combo.could get any basic sound i wanted from it. ranging from sweet lows, to soaring highs. or unbelievable lows, to screaming highs. it all depends on how you set the equalizer.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: i recommend this pickup to everyone. if you playing emg, dimarzio, seymour duncan, this will do exactly what you're old pickup did, but better.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: this is my baby. when you figure you can spend hundreds of dollars on finding that one pickup that is right for your guitar and your setup, this comes at a fraction of the price with more versatility than any other pickup this sie of a synth pickup. if it were stolen, i would buy 3 to replace it! recently i bought a multieffects pedal, and now with the combination of it, and my pickup, there is no sound that can't be achieved! it can't be compared to anything else because it is the only pickup that offers a 5 band equilizer on the pickup itself. plus a volume and gain setting. that makes a 7 band eq. unfortunateley, you'll have trouble with changing it on the fly. it requires turning small screw like dials, that look like poles on a regular pickup. no way around it, unless it had a memory bank. but regardless, it is the most impressive pickup i've ever seen, and i can accomplish any and all tasks!!! no jokes, and i do not represent shadow pickups in any way.
