Features :
Stan Hinesley Passive Humbucker, Hellion model.
15k+

Instrument :
I installed this in a refurbished / hotrodded Ibanez.
The Hellion is in the bridge, replacing a stock Ibanez HB.
Mid Position- Kent Armstrong HB-size P-90
Neck Position- Kent Armstrong Distortion HB
I'm the only one i know that has one, but after hearing this thing, the rest of my band are scoping them out.
Completely redoing the guitar, and Stan's work for me in the past has been nothing short of phenomenal, so this pickup was a natural choice.
If i didn't already have them lying around looking for a home, the Kent Armstrong's would probably be Hinesley's, too.

Sound : 10
Loud. This thing cuts through the mix with a vengeance.
I currently run through a Digitech multi-effects unit, running a Rectifer style patch for distortion, and a tweed style patch for my "clean" tone [but with the Hellion, its a grimy clean]
Tone wise, the bass end is well defined and sharp.
The mids are a little scooped, but when you hit an artificial harmonic it just screeeeeeeeeeams, Dimebag Darrel style.
The highs are right where i like them- clear and bell like, but without the icepick in the ear sound- smooth, not piercing.
I play a wide variety of music [from death metal to reggae]. Thus far, i've only got to test it in a realllly heavy atmosphere. Tuned down to drop C, the Hellion still has remarkable clarity. Messed around a bit getting some more 50's rock and roll tones out of it, and it did well. Generally, if i'm doing anything less than full shredding, i switch to the neck pickup for my solos, but this pickup could change all that.
For the heavy stuff, i've never heard better- better than the Dimebag Darrel model Dimarzio, better than a Duncan Distortion.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were stolen, i'd either A.) stock up to avoid being without it again or B.) try and convince Stan to sponsor me!
I've been playing professionally for 11 years now. I play Fenders and Ibanez's mainly, but own some Gibsons and Epiphones. I currently run through a Crate Stack.
I love it for its ability to cut through. It doesn't get muddy, and it picks up the delicacies of my technique. Probably not the right pickup for Ramones-style buzzsaw guitar work, but i haven't tried it yet either.
The only thing i dislike is no fult of Stan's- i do a lot of country style double stops and oblique bends, and out of the box, i need to raise the pole pieces on the G B and E strings.

Features :
It's a very high output passive humbucker.
DC resistance = 15k ohm, Ceramic.

Instrument :
I put it in my ESP Horizon NT II.
It's put down in the bridge. It's best for bridge.
I replaced in with Duncan JB.
It still be a Duncan 59 in the neck position.
Bobby Ferrara, my good friend is one of the artists who uses it.
Bobby told me to check it out so I did. Thanks Bobby.
I always like a very high out put pick up. JB does not sound hot enough for me. I asked my friend, Bobby who is a very good guitar player and he is an ace of gears. He told me that I should check the "Hellion" out. LOVE IT!

Sound : 10
It does sound like JB only hotter and louder.
I like the attack of this pick up a lot.
You can really hear the sound of the pick when it hits the string.
The tone is awesome. Tight bass, good mid with bright sound.
I like shredding. This Hellion is very good for a shredder.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitars for years.
I own 2 ESPs, Gibson, Bo-El and Manne.
I also have a Laney VH100R with TT412 cabinet + T-Rex Alberta for the boost. This Hellion is perfect for it.
I'm happy with the sound. I know there are a lot of good pick ups available nowsaday. Some are big name and some are smaller.
Stan Hinesley is worth the price. Most of all, it's a metal head pick up.
