Features
:
Rogue 7 string set
Bridge and neck humbuckers
passive!
Instrument
:
Installed in a Schecter Omen-7, basswood body w/rosewood fretboard. These are replacing the stock pickups, which were OK considering the guitar cost $200 used. They just seemed too muddy and boomy to play grindcore/death/prog through my Marshall and VHT stacks.

These Rogue 7's are AMAZING for my style of metal. The sound is very tight and aggressive throughout all frequencies, very heavy. These blew away the stock pickups and compare very favorably to active EMG's, without the battery hassle. I do have to add though that the bridge position pickup is more suited to metal than any other style of playing, the mids on both positions are slightly cut back, but this seems to let the low b stay tight and angry through my Marshall JCM2000. The bridge also doesn't have that annoying pig-grunt deathcore/nu-metal tone on the low notes!
Think Carcass instead of Meshuggah.
Suprisingly, the neck postion is very glassy, and very suitable for thick leads, sweep picking, and bluesy scales.
These pickups have very little feedback vs. the stock pickups, however I would like them to be even louder. I notice that when changing guitars between this one and my seymour duncan equipped blackjack C-7, I have to turn the amp volume up a hair to compensate in a full-band situation. But this is probably due more to the cut-back mids in the Rogues than actual pickup output.

If these were destroyed or stolen I would probably order another set. Stan was easy to order from and even sent a cool t-shirt along with my pickups! They fit my playing style very well, and were priced cheaper than a full set of EMG's or Duncan Blackouts. I've been playing guitar for 11 years now and owned pickups from Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan, and EMG. I got these simply to upgrade my cheap back-up Schecter (which is an awesome guitar for the $$) and wanted to try something other than the Big 3 of pickup manufacturers. I am very satisfied with the results!
