Comments: ......... I purchased this pickup set after seeing them at the Frankfurt Messe, an HSH set of their Vintage Reflection series. I didn't know what to expect, though I chose this particular set after checking the specs in their catalog. I'm not a full time metal player, so I don't need high output pickups. For a long time I have been using all kinds of pickups, (you name it !!!!!!), so I have many references in my head to compare. I have installed the pickups in a Spirit by Steinberger guitar (maple body with floating trem).
The first thing that shocked me about the Vintage Reflections is the CLARITY.......these must be the clearest sounding pickups I have ever tried. You can really trust the specs in the catalog. The neck pickup is full and clear, but not overpowered. It has a very even response, there are no frequency peaks as you have with other pickups. It has an Alnico V magnet, so it has a nice bite but at the same time it is smooth, a really versatile pickup.
The bridge pickup..... it has everything. Clarity, punch, smoothness, no strange mid peaks. Clean, it's fantastic, with lots of detail and articulation. Split, it is almost acoustic !!! it has the best split sound I've heard in a pickup, ultra-clean !!!!....with distortion.....amazing. The best description I have in mind is early EVH, the tone is that good. The distortions sound clear without being harsh, with a moderate kick (it almost sounds like an Alnico II magnet). It is possibly the most versatile bridge pickup I have installed in my guitars.
Then you have some more extras which demonstrate than these guys really take care of their products. We are not talking about cheap korean OEM pickups here, these guys make pickups comparable (if not better) to any of the major US manufacturers we all know. The wires come peeled off and pre-soldered, the shielding is very sturdy, besides they look killer !!!! gotta love the halo stickers in the side of the pickup.
And best of all, the pricing. For the price of one US pickup, you can purchase a full set of high quality pickups (why not two?). Believe me, they are that good, even some of the US pickups pale in comparison to these ones. I can see these guys are going to be among the big ones. Don't be sceptical because they are korean, just TRY THEM !!!
PS: I don't work for these guys, I just saw them at the Messe, but i think they deserve this review for putting out such good stuff at an incredible price
