Features :
Passive Humbucker 7.9K with Alnico II magnets.
Black, no chrome cover.

Instrument :
Yamaha RGX320 Mahogany body and mahogany set-neck, 24 3/4" scale.
Neck position to replace too hot stock pickup.
I changed to this pickup to try to get a cleaner, vintage Les Paul type tone.
I love Jimmy Page's tone in "The Song Remains The Same" video. Listen to the solo on "No Quarter" to get the idea of the tone I am going for.

Sound : 10
This pickup sounds fantastic !!!

The sound is not too hot, very vintage and smooth with a nice clear treble.
If you have a Gibson style guitar that is mushy in the neck position this might be your pickup.
It still sounds like a vintage PAF but there is so much clarity and it responds to pick attack just right. Pick lightly and the tone is smooth pick hard and you get get a stinging attack that swells to smooth sustain. THIS IS FUN.

THIS IS THE TONE I HAVE BEEN AFTER FROM A NECK PICKUP.

Overall Rating : 10
I will but this pickup again for a couple of my other guitars and for any guitar I buy that is too thick sounding in the neck position.

If it were stolen I would wonder why the theif left a nice guitar and just took the pickup !?!

I really like this one and it costs less than $50. This pickup compares well to the DiMarzio and Duncans as far as quality goes and it costs less. I have never tried a super costly, hand wound masterpiece, boutique pickup but now I don't need to, I will stick with the Tonerider.
