Warm and vintage output.
Mostly used just in recording so your perception may vary.
Great tone. Not as good "low mids" as the 498 but better "high mids".
I play vintage Blues to Mid 70s sounds, Muddy Waters to Sabbath, these do that.
Very, very good pickup and compares well with the 498 - and I like Gibson pickups.
There are other makers with pickups in this price range, so can't rate it an absolute 10.
I doubt I will change it though.
The sound samples on Tonerider's site combined with the price made me think about changing the pickup. I'm glad i did.

I Like it , great price, what's to lose?. I put the 498 in my SG Copy.
I compared it [web soundclips] to BG Buckers- Harmony Central, a couple of cheapies on ebay and Swineshead.
I think it's fairly close to a Condor, but I would rate the Swineshead slighly higher, only having heard soundclips of both.
I really like the Gibson pickups and am delighted that this cheapy comes close to the Standard Gibson set, some people may think it better.
They're worth the risk, listen to the soundfiles.
I don't think it's potted, and experiences a little microphonics, I'll wax it if I have to.
