Humbucking pickup 16k (Bridge)
Mine are black with no covers
Instrument
:
I installed the bridge pickup in a 1993 Jackson Dinky Reverse Professional MIJ. It's a basswood body. The previous pickups were direct-mounted so I mounted this one that way as well. The stock Jackson rail pickup wasn't real bad - but not enough clarity under high gain.

These are great. As someone else said, they remind me of the Duncan JB's, but with a little tighter bottom end. I plugged it into my Roland Cube with a BOSS EQ pedal in front and got a great RATT sound right off the bat. Just what I was looking for.

I would definitely buy again and I just recommended it to a friend, which prompted me to write this review. I would agree that this is as good as anything "the majors" put out.
You can hear a song recorded with this pickup on my MySpace page. ("At Your Own Risk.") www.myspace.com/laughingparrot

Passive humbucker, Alnico bits and pieces... not too sure on the spec.
Instrument
:
Installed in an American Deluxe HSS Stratocaster at the bridge. Replacing a Seymour Duncan Little '59 (long story). Installed in conjunction with a Mel's Lo-Noise humbucker in the middle, and a DiMarzio Chopper at the neck. I changed to this pickup because I'd read a couple of really good reviews about it, and it seemed like good value for money.

Really good pickup, absolutely solid. The clean sound is bright and punchy, and when used with higher volumes on the amp it crunches up really nicely. I'm using it with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, it really suits the amp to a T. I play all styles of music, and it works well with rock in the main. It can be used for blues quite happily, but I wouldn't recommend it for funk. It's far too thick, but if you were of a coil-tapping disposition then it would work brilliantly for funk. I think this pickup would work well in any position.
The output level is pretty hefty, but not massively different to the other pickups- which gives a nice balanced sound.

I would definitely get another of these if I had to. Compared to the faceless Fender Atomic DH-1 and the thin & reedy Seymour Duncan Little '59 it has replaced, it is streets ahead of both.
I have been playing for around 9 years, and this is the second time I've been truly happy with a bridge pickup sound on a guitar- the first being the PRS Singlecut I own.
There is nothing bad about this pickup, unless you a serious snob and have a problem with Chinese-made products. For those who can rise above such things, jump right in. It looks great, it sounds great, comes with good instructions to fit it.

Nickel covered buckers - 16 k bridge, 8K neck
passive.
Bought to replace stock pups [that were not half bad actually] on a cheap Les paul Copy
Instrument
:
Wesley Pheonix Les paul copy - Far east manufacture, mahogany body, set neck and nicely made for the dirt cheap price.
Matched pair fitted.
They come in goregous vintage looking boxes, with no surrounds but screws and springs included and a clear wiring diagram.
Marked bridge adnd neck clearly!

Playing through a Marshall Vlavestate AVT275 - clean is very bluesy on the front pickup but lacking in mids compared to the Kent 15K fitted to another LP copy recently.
On OD1 - great blues rock sound on neck, dirty dirty sound on bridge.
The Kents have far more mid in both positions and seem to give a better sustain, though i have only tested back to back at bedroom volumes.
The bridge pickup is very hot and seems top drive the amp well on dirty .
OD2 for metal - bridge sounds great
The Kent has a more mid based sound, even on Bridge settings, and could arguably be a better choice for more lead work if heavy rock or metal is yur thing - the Kents sustain for ever [15k Alincos]
I compared back to back, the LP copy fitted with these, another with Kents, and an ES355 fitted with stocks - all Wesley guitars [great value instruments]
The stocks are suprisingly good - a very bluesy pickup with I suspect a lower overall output to the hot beasts fitted .
If blues or blues rock is your thing, they are as good as any standard pickups I have found - nickel covered and wax potted.
The Toneriders are much hotter but still retain that Led Zep tone - the bridge especially is quite toppy.
The Kents are a different beast with mid bias and a tendency to be a little muddy in the neck postion if your amp settings arent spot on.

I might stick the Kent Alincos in .
Overall they are a step above the stocks , as good as most pickups 3 times the price and i suspect at concert volume when the amp is being properly pushed they will come into their own.
They are a clearer pickup than the Kents, and whilst I think I prefer the tone of the Kents, i suspect these will give better defintion at higher volumes.
At 25 quid a pickup for the nickel , or around 20 the plain they are great additions to any guitar.
They use genuine alinco mags and are very well made indeed.
At this price you can afford to experiment.
With a good quality hardwood body, they would seriously enhance the tone of any guitar.

These pickup's are fantastic value for money. I fitted them on an old hand made LP Copy(which sounded so tinny) which i bought on e-bay and now the guitar has a fatter full toned sound, much better than my Gibson SG special with factory pickups. They cost ??22 each at the time.
Value for money and sound 10/10

EL DUE??O QUEDO MAS FELIZ QUE DOG WITH TWO DI%&????
??PARA CUSTOMIZAR INSTRUMENTOS DE GAMA MEDIA ES EL CAMINO A ELEGIR
PARA DIY TOO??
REALMENTE VOLVERIA A COMPRAR OTRAS PARA CUSTOMIZAR UNA GUITARRA DECENTE???? PERO NO PARA COLOCARLAS EN UNA GUITARRA DE GAMA ALTA (FENDER GIBSON U OTRAS, YO PERSONALMENTE TENDRIA UNA GUITARRA CON ESTAS CAPSULAS PARA TENERLA DE BACKUP Y TENER UN BUEN SONIDO EN CASO DE QUE MI GUITARRA PRINCIPAL FALLE.

Humbucker, passive
15 k (measured)
Instrument
:
It's installed in a guitar I've designed and built myself, with a solid maple body and strat neck. It's in bridge position, the neck pickup is a Fender single-coil.
It's quite good-loooking, no cover plate, one black and one creme coil.

It delivers quite high output. I play through an old Fender Twin without master volume, so this is appreciated.
Mostly I do recordings, though, and the pickup works well in this context. Powerful bass and strong and clear overtones. I would compare it to DiMarzio Super Distortion, an old favorite (though 3 times more expensive..)

If I woud lose this pickup- yeah, I would go for it again. I have been playing for 30 years, mostly Fender Stratocaster SSS, and now in the guitar of my own design I wanted something that could kick some new sounds from the old Twin. I was not disappointed.
I recommend this pickup.
You don't get what you pay for when it comes to guitar pickups. This cheap pickup is in every respect comparable with great brands lika Seynour Duncan, DiMarzio
BUT - And this lowers the rating - I want real wiring diagrams. It wouldn't cost much to include a sheet with different configurations, which leads are for what? Coil tap? The diagram on Toneriders website is extremely basic and at the same time incomprehensible.
But the pickup is still great and I will buy it to my next project.

I bought the gold plated set (2 pickups) for my '78 custom les paul cause the original pickups was dark and noisy.
I try also Duncans SH55 Seth Lover, brighter than originals, but has an incontrollable feedback when the amp is gained up with my mxr.
Sound

The output level is hot.
The sound is comparable with Duncans JB, plenty of dynamics, very powerful output, bright but very fat, no noise and very low microphonics.
Generally this pickups give the best features of the guitar, now my custom is real changed, wonderful crunch bass/mid-bass tone in the chords, defined but warm mids, treble don't cut off when the volume is rolled down.
This is the best buy that I ever do, very useful from anything from blues to 80's heavy metal (from gary moore to randy rhoads).
Sounds very fat through my '73 marshall jmp with g12h30 cab, true Jimmy Page taste!
I use this gear to play "the darkness" covers, with a marshall distortion pedal.
Very good!

I think to put these pickups in my every guitar!
Cost half than duncan and you have the same.
Probably I'll try the firepower set to put in my '84 standard les paul to have more attack... See you soon....
