Van Zandt Blues pickups ... the set
Instrument
:
I replaced all the pickups in my 1988, 62 Fender American Standard reissue Stratacaster.
I chaned the pickups because the stock ones didnt seem to have the drive and the tone i like. I can now go from an Eric Johnson to Stevie Ray Vaughn tone ... Very incredible.

The output level on these is slightly higher than teh Fender Texas Specials and the Stock pickups. I can go from a clean tone to a nice mid growl - very nice warm tone. It seems to have a cleaner and brighter tone at more output. It has a nice singing blues southern rock tone similar to like 38 special.

Van Zandts are the only pickups i now use in my two strats.
My equipment list includes, 1989 PRS CE-24 - Very nice tone. 1992 SRV Fender Reissue, 1988, 62 Fender reissue.
My amp is a 1993 Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Dual Rectifier and 1987 Mesa Boogie 4x12 Rectifier Speaker Cabinet.

mexican strat blues in the neck/middle rock in bridge. Bought these from Pickup Central. Buy from them they are great to work with! Change because I wanted less harsh sounding pickups.

pretty hot, but still sounds like a good strat. It ain't vintage but it retains high end sparkle without the high end harsh. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212. Sounds fantastic. Brighter than I though they'd be. I play 9's on my strat and was afraid I'd still suffer from thin strat syndrome but, nope! Very full balanced with lots of detail. Lots of BIG character. These pickups have the beef! Play in a classic rock band. I hate that term. When I was a teenager those were the cool songs. Now they're practically oldies.

I'd be sad! I'd definatley buy again. Playing for 27 years. I have a Guild Star Fire, an Agile PRS copy that plays and sounds great. I had a lone star strat with texas specials that sounded really good live, but slightly muddy when recording dirty rhythm sounds. Tried vintage noiseless and hot noiseless both waaay too bright and not enough low end growl. These van zant pickups are clear at any setting. I did wire the tone control to the bridge pickup and I do use it cause its still pretty bright. But man! The bridge rock pickup is faaat! Search is definitely over. I wish I could keep buying stuff. But when yopu find your sound you should shut up and play yer guitar!
