I installed these pickups in a Strat I built. Custom Shop body--MIM Fender Strat neck---Fender Japanese pickguard & Pots---stock tuners and trem. I replaced the stock Japanese Strat pickups as they were a little thin sounding.

I play primarily through a Roland Blues Cube with no effects. This is Mike Lulls favorite set and he recommended them to me. I was considering some DiMarzio's but opted to follow Mikes advice. I was not dissapointed. These pickups (Vintage Plus in neck and middle--Blues in the bridge) have that magical sweetness an older Strat has but they are a lot warmer to my ears. Positions 2 and 4 are to literally die for. Very clear sounding with plenty of bite and warmth. THE perfect set for overall balance that fits with just about any style of music. Positions 1, 3, & 5 are great. If you can stand some of the 60 cycle hum (roll off the treble) those positions will blow your mind. Crank up the bridge pickup by itself and put it into overdrive. WAHOO!

I have to rate these as some of the best souding single coil Strat pickups I have played in my 45+ years of playing. If they were stolen I'd get another set in a New York minute. If you are considering an upgrade for your strat---PLEASE consider the VanZandts as they will not dissapoint.
