Features :
I have a pair of HS90s with AlNiCo-III magnets installed, AlNiCo-V as extras. There is a wide range of options in looks, wiring, magnets, etc. Check out the website for info www.vintagevibeguitars.com. Bottom line is Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe can build to about any spec you want.

Instrument :
I have my first set of HS90s in a 335 copy (Aria Pro). It was essentially a backup guitar for me - my primary instrument is a Les Paul Standard.

Since changing out the old humbuckers on the Aria I play it all the time. What a difference! I've orders sets for 2 other guitars I have.

Sound : 10
I play rock (roots, classic), blues, funk, rockabilly, some jazz, country & even reggae - a big mix of things. I've been playing for nearly 30 years, so I've covered a lot of styles, and played a lot of different gear.

I play through a Carr Slant6V - a fantastic amp. I've had that since '99 (wow, 10 years already). I have a good number of effects in my live rig - all pedals, nearly all analog with true bypass. Most used items, Analog Man Chorus, Phase 90, Boss DM3 Analog Delay, and wah-wah (started life as a Cry Baby in the 80's, but all the guts now my own custom creation). I also use all Fulltone cables on my pedal board - let me tell you, they are worth every penny.

Back to the pickups... The vast majority of the time I'm playing guitar to amp, no other processing. If a rig doesn't sound good like that no amount of processing is going to fix it.

The VV HS90s are really responsive. Minor volume and attach changes come though clearly. The set is perfectly matched, making all pickup positions sound great.

I'm not a P90 aficionado - they are great pickups, but over the years I only played one Les Paul JR for a short time that had one. So I can't make any informed comments about the VV HS90s being dead on matches to this or that incarnation of original P90. That said, these pickups totally kick butt!

They have the perfect mix of raunchiness and clarity. Sustain is fantastic. They overdrive so well, and have a great round, full clean tone - not shrill or muddy. Plus, with the easy to swap out magnets it's easy to tailor the tone. I went with the AlNiCo-IIIs installed, and they sound great on the semi hollowbody, but I plan to try using AlNiCo-Vs on my solidbody Stambaugh guitar, for a bit more edgy attack.

Overall Rating : 10
All 10s from me. These pickups sound great! Pete is super responsive with filling orders and making sure he builds exactly what the customer wants. The pickups look fantastic, quality couldn't be better, and the cost is quite low given all that. I've purchased more expensive pickups that were no better then the Vintage Vibes, some not even as good. I've also owned plenty of the big name after market pickups - DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan... which are fine, but not comparable to the Vintage Vibes.

I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer. Like I said, I have 2 more sets on order right now, and may well get more in the future.

Try one set. If you put them in a guitar you don't use much (like I did) I bet it'll become your new favorite instrument. They really do sound that good.

Features :
P-90s packaged in a Humbucking ring.
Medium hot pick ups.
Came with both Ceramic and Alnico magnets and instructions on how to switch them out.

Instrument :
Replaced both humbuckers in a really cheap made in China or Korea Goldtop. Daewoo I believe were the pick ups. Guitar is a set neck.

Sound : 10
Medium hot pick ups.
Used it through various amps, clean and dirty as well as direct at church.
The tone is so well balanced and full, really really nice.
This would suit almost any kind of music, there isn't a position that doesn't sound great with these pick ups.
My cheap sounding guitar went straight up to boutique.

Overall Rating : 10
I'd certainly replace these pick ups with the same if I had to.
I play mostly in church and at home.
I did btw go with the neck using the Ceramic and the Bridge using the Alnico since in my mind ceramic is a little brighter and alnico a little darker. That has worked out great.

Features :
Humbucking side by side P 90 pickup replacement. Creme color, 2 rows of adjustable set screws, hand wound, calibrated for neck and bridge positions.

Instrument :
PRS SE , both positions, replaced stock p/ups (noise issues)

Sound : 10
Medium output, playing thru VHT Pittbull 45 head and Crate Powerblock in Tereo thru 2x12" Avatar cab w EV`s. Great match for the guitar which is all mahogany like an old Les Paul Jr. Has a very nice midrange w/out sounding honky.

Overall Rating : 10
Would HIGHLY RECOMEND these p/ups and at this price you can`t go wrong. Very good customer service, I`ve also bought a pair of PAF humbuckers which are also excellent. Currently have Lindy Fralin HB`s in a Gibson Johnny A model and Wolfetone rewind HB`s in a Gibson Pat Martino, both wonderful sounding as well. But I think these are definitely on par w/ all of those p/ups

Features :
Humbucker sized P90 pickups

Pickups ship with complete sets of bar magnets in both AlNiCo-5 and ceramic-8. Standard colors include black, creme and faux tortoise shell. Metal covers, nickel or gold plated are also available.

Instrument :
PRS Singlecut. Replaced both pickups. I found the PRS No7 pickups to be rather bland and wanted to try some P90s, having recently bough a Gibson VOS 56 Goldtop.

I used the AlNiCo magnets and cream covers.

Sound : 10
The neck pickup is superb, easily as good as the one in my R6. The bridge pickup is perhaps lacking the bite of the one in the Gibson, however, I have only played the SC a couple of times and not used my main amp, a Mesa F-50.

The Singlecut is now a fully useable guitar for me, whereas before it tended to be a bit muddy. It now sounds great

Amps used to date are a Fender Blues Deluxe. Never use effects

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for 45+ years. Yes would certainly buy the pickups again, love them. I did make enquiries with Bare Knuckle, however wasn't happy with their price and they seemed to take a time to respond to my query. Vintage Vibe were fare better on price, even after paying import taxes. Response was superb
