Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: A clear growl, not as muddy as humbuckers,Definitley deeper than single coils
Tone: balanced
Sonic evaluation: I use my SG with a Vox AD60VT, a Blues Junior, and a Micro-cube for practice.I cannot fault these pick-ups in any way, as they give me the exact tone I wanted from them.I mainly play them with an overdriven amp, because to me that's where they shine, but they are also excellent clean.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play older rock music, but I'm of an age when I can remember it when it was new! To me, these are the definitive classic rock pick-up,they make humbuckers seem old and overweight, try them , they turned my cheap Epiphone into a fantastic guitar, and all for a hundrd bucks!

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would rate these pickups as not excellent value, but as the BEST value! Look at the prices of all the other humbucker-sized pickups, especially the ones that sound like they're named after a sports car! These have improved the guitar I put them in 10 fold, it even looks a lot better! This is my second set of P90's from Mr Biltoft, I have a set of soap-bars in my Gold-Top, and his work is faultless. He is also a good guy to deal with.I like his pick-up's so much that I'm stripping out ALL my guitars and using Vintage-Vibe exclusively from here on in.

Model of guitar or bass: Epi Elite Les Paul Standard Plus
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Epi 60ST and 50SR

Artists using this pickup: BTSOM
You musical style(s): blues, jazz, classic rock
Reason for pickup change: Wanted to try P90's. Looking for the solidity and sustain of a Les Paul, combined with the clarity and bite of a single coil pickup.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Less output than the stock humbuckers (8k neck, 14k bridge)
Tone: midrangey, smooth and clear.
Sonic evaluation: I play the LP primarily through a Pandora PX-4, simulating a 2x12 blackface twin reverb. Pickups do well for blues/rock (e.g. Crossroads by Cream), or cleaner jazz.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: blues, classic rock, jazz.I

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I've been playing on and off for over 30 years. Consistently over the last two. Other guitars are 2000 Gibson LP Std, Classic '50s Strat, Classic 60's Strat.

Features :
Pickup features: Humbucker sized P-90, steel adjustable polepeices, bar magnets
Impedence or other specs: DC resistance 8.9 k ohms and 10.5 k ohms neck and bridge respectively

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Squire Telecaster (made in Indonesia)
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Neck and bridge
Other pickups on guitar: Stock single coil neck, stock humbucker bridge
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): blues, prog rock, 70s classic rock, whatever sounds good that day...
Reason for pickup change: Originally purchased the guitar with the intention of installing P-90 type pickups. My other guitars are both strats and I was looking for a sound closer to early electric blues (Hubert Sumlin, old Buddy Guy, Mike Bloomfield, etc.)

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hotter than overwound strat single coils but not by too far
Tone: balanced highs and lows with moderate emphasis on midrange
Sonic evaluation: Well, count me in as one satisfied customer. Peter Biltoff clearly knows how to build quality pickups. These sound great - very much like a true P-90. They are clear and expressive with just the right amount of spank. They sound so sweet when playing lightly and will break up just right when played hard. They retain good string clarity even when driven hard and really match well with my current amp. Typically with a Strat I play predominantly through the clean channel and use an overdrive pedal for boosting output as desired. With the new P-90 Squire I find myself switching over to the lead channel - not so much as a lead boost but for the more Marshall-y feel and a whole new palette of sound. In putting this rig together I wanted a sound reminiscent of Buddy Guy on Howlin Wolf's Killing Floor and man do I have it and more.
My only gripe is that the bridge pickup - although rated at a slighty higher DC resistance - it still does not seem to match the output of the neck pickup when they are set to up similarly. Obviously this is not a huge issue as I simply up lowered the neck pickup in its mount until the outputs matched. The difference in the overall sound of the neck pickup was not excessive or undesireable so I am reasonably satisfied. Maybe this problem is specific to the particulars of my setup, but I'm not sure. The spec sheets provided with each pickup indicate 8,500 turns on the neck and 9,500 on the bridge, resulting in the slightly higher DC resistance rating on the bridge. Perhaps a slightly lower value on the neck pickup would have led to better balance between the two, maybe not. I would be curious to know the resonant peak of each pickup as currenlty built and whether this would change much with a slighlty cooler neck model. But I am not the expert and given the overall performance of the pickups, and my overall satisfaction level perhap I should just STFU.
I am currently playing through a Traynor YCV40t with minimal effects (Boss GE-7, and either a Boss BD-2 or new Visual Sound Route 66)and a THD Hotplate for residential friendly distortion. I couldn't be happier with this setup. Well, ok, I could be happier - if I had put these pickups into a finer guitar. Not to badmouth the Squire - a little tweaking and it's become a great value for the buck - but given the excellent performance displayed by these pickups I can't help but wonder how they would sound in a better overall package.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: These pickups are probably useful for any form of music involving a guitar, a tube amplifier, and a player who wants to expess himself - maybe not high gain metal (haven't tried it), but just about anything else.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Call me satisfied. If there was a way these pickups could sound better it is beyond me. They do exactly what they should. The sound is pure single coil with none of the mud or muffled tones of a humbucker, and a presence/brashness that exceeds what an overwound strat pickup will deliver.
The pickups came well packed with excellent documentation, installation instructions, and a lifetime guarantee (save that receipt!) Considering the bargain price you really cannot go wrong trying a pair of these. If they were lost or stolen I would replace them.
I have been playing casually for 20+ years, have never played for money, and now mainly play solo for personal pleasure. I have always owned strats and currently have a non-vintage 73 Fender and a Warmoth Strat that I built this year. I am a dyed-in-the-wool single coil fan(atic) and have rarely encountered a humbucker that I liked for any length of time. The Squire with the addition of these pickups has really expanded my tonal range without taking me into foreign territory.
