Two P-90 singles put together to form a Humbucker. Output is approximately 13k
Instrument
:
Double Fat Strat, with Super Switch to split coils.

Output is loud and clear. These are amazing pickups for tone. The highs are clear the bass end is heavy but not muddy at all. Makes for a great Rock and classic rock pickup. Really reacts to the volume knob as a good P-90 should. A clean purr, too a growling roar as you crank the volume.
Split the coils and you have an almost Strat like sound...as in on steroids.
I have played these thru tube and solid state amps and they are amazing.

I have never had a pickup that did everything you wanted it to do...until now. Pete makes some of the most well built pickups but more importantly they do as they should. They react to the volume and tone knobs so well pedals aren't needed.
Pete is also very informative and helpful.

Each coil of these humbucking pickups is made like a vintage P90. The Bridge pickup is 9.5K ohms and the Neck is 8.0K. The coils are well shielded and each bobbin is covered with a plastic cover like those on strat single coils. It all goes in a regular humbucker bezel. These are large units though, that might not fit in some guitars. Mine are creme colored but Vintage Vibe offers plenty of options. The pickups are wired for splitting between humbucking and single coil modes, if you should so desire.

I put these pickups in a 1958 Guild Bluesbird. The guitar has been extensively modified over the years. Previously the small original pickups were replaced with high output Carvin humbuckers. I was very satisfied with this guitar for a long time. I stumbled across Vintage Vibe Guitars (Pete Biltoft)and bought a set of his pickups for another guitar. Right away I was sold. I have begun replacing the pickups for many of my guitars. This Guild is a beautiful little hollow body with no F holes. I wired the pickups for coil splitting because the switches were already there. I had first just wanted P90s, but I had those darn switches... I asked Pete if he could make 2 p90 type coils into a splittable humbucker for me, and he said he already made such a pickup- the HSP. I ordered a pair.

I'm playing this guitar through a variety of vintage tube amps. It Sounds great through a MusicMan HD 150 and a Carvin 212 Belair on the gigs. I sometimes use a ts5 Tubescreamer or a Danelectro Daddy-O pedal for a distortion. I play blues and rock of all kinds. I love the whole gamut of guitar tones from crystal clean to stinky crunch. These pickups do it all. No matter what setting your amp or guitar is on it will sound great. The pickups have enough output to drive an amp well, but even at very high gain settings in single coil mode they are dead quiet. I can only give the most favorable review of the sound- rich and vintage and sweet. Very, Very fine.

I'm changing guitars over to these pickups as fast as I can afford to. I'm getting a bin full of other retired "quality" parts to sell on eBay. This Guild is the third guitar I have done in a 4 month period. I doubt I will ever buy another brand of pickup again. These are that good. Just looking at them, you can clearly see they are superior, and oooh that sound! The only concern I have is that they are bulky, and might not be a direct replacement for many guitars. I had to route mine considerably and alter the bracing a bit. Be sure to carefully measure the cavity before you order these unless you are not afraid to rip into your guitar. Pete is happy to work closely with his customers, I'm sure he has (or can make) a product to exactly suit your needs for a very reasonable price. I've been playing and working on guitars for 30 years, and I have never experienced pickups even close to these.

It is a p90, single coil, shaped to fit in a humbucker space. You can check out Vintage Vibe's website for all the specs.

Guild Starfire (Blades), Sherraton, Alley Kat, ES-137; Yep, I've put them in every guitar I own. In all cases I was replacing humbuckers. I had Carvins in the Sherraton, stocks in the Alley Kat and ES-137, and vintage stock in the Guild (it's a '74)

They are like a fat single enough muscle to give you some sweet break-up without losing articulation. I truly cannot say enough about these pick-ups. They have defined my sound, and I am not sure I could ever play anything else

I am obsessed with these pick-ups, and Vintage Vibe for that matter. I've been playing them for about 3 years, and they have altered the way I think about buying a guitar. Now, I go completely cosmetic because I know whatever is in it is getting pulled, so I can put some VVG's in there.
