Features :
Pickup features: Passive P90s single coil
Impedence or other specs: Neck is about 10 and bridge about 11

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: McInturff Zodiac Ported top semi-hollow
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: DiMarzio DLXs
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Me
You musical style(s): Rock'n'Roll, blues, pop
Reason for pickup change: DLXs were brittle, dry and bad sounding in this guitar. Needed something to bring out the good wood of the guitar.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Seems a little hotter than another guitar I have with McInturff T90s (P90s) in it.
Tone: Very balanced and open. The semi-hollow ported top guitar has a hand in that. Great string definition in all switch positions. Not overly high endy type of tone, but there is an edge as you'd expect from a P90. Very 3D tone. Deep cleans.
Sonic evaluation: I'm using this with a Fender '64 VibroVerb RI with 1X15. The clean tone is excellent. All three switch positions have their own great tone. The neck sounds like the fattest best sounding Strat neck pickup on steroids. The combo get you tone like a really great bell. Highs, mids and lows just ring. The bridge pickup is not the honky midrangey type of bridge P90. The guitar may have something to do with that again, but you get a bit of honk, but it isn't the overbearing kazoo like tone you get from some. There is depth to the bridge clean tone as there is with the neck pup. Add a the overdrive in and the definition remains even with a goodly amount. The pickups sound like they are great single coils with a bit of humbucker. Excellent tone. You can get that P90 attitude in the bridge position, but the tone remains musical. Very open and uncompressed.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play all styles of music, some better than others, but depending on the guitar these could satify anyone who wanted a good P90. Roll off some tone for a jazzy neck sound, add some verb and echo for ambient tones or a little drive for blues or rock rhythm or solos. Might not be the best for metal shredding. Great for anything else

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: These are terrific pickups. Pete Billtoft is a great guy who seems like he'd work with you to get the tone right. He gives a 30 day money back period to get comfortable with the tone. I considered some others, but thought I'd give Pete's a try and they won't be coming out of this guitar on my watch.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive single coil
Impedence or other specs: 11k or so

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: LP Special
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock P90
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Bluesy/Rock/Country - variety depending on gig
Reason for pickup change: Noise. Also, Pete had a reputation so I thought I'd try.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hotter than Alnico P90's, better balance, punchy but warm too.
Tone: Very Articulate pickups, I have a Ceramic in bridge and Alnico in neck
Sonic evaluation: Vox AC30's. Very nice jangly sound to real rude in the bridge. Nice jazzy at neck if required. Middle position humbucking, nice, no noise - on the whole a lot quiter than avarage P90's

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Metal - not right for this (and nor should it be)

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: People rave on and there is a massive choice of p/ups. It's all individual taste. Put a player with talent and soul with a cruddy guitar, it'll still sound OK. I will say this - Pete is a very customer oriented gent, was very helpful to me and the product is excellent in tone and value. Look, there are heaps of P90's out there, but what counts for me is the buying experience and ongoing relationship after as well as the product. Pete Biltoft is a genuine, real human being/gentleman and was exceptionally patient with me. Thanks Pete and all the best. I'll go 9 because I don't know what a 10 is. I'm happy, that's all!

Features :
Pickup features: passive P-90 single coil
Impedence or other specs: 9.9k neck, 11.2k bridge (10% overwound)

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: American Standard Strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: various passive and active single coils and humbuckers
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: not sure
You musical style(s): all flavors of rock
Reason for pickup change: wanted something different, and something with fat juicy tone

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Pretty hot, easily on par with most humbuckers.
Tone: very balanced and musical. warm but not stuffy. great clarity. big round bottom!
Sonic evaluation: I ordered this set of two P-90's and a compatible strat pickguard, because i wanted something different from my strat, and I love P-90 tone. These are simply the best pickups I've ever had in this guitar. It's as if my strat ate a piano for breakfast. The highs and tightness of a single coil are there, combined with a big full bottom. They're nice and solid sounding with distortion and overdrive, and easily drive an amp into distortion. There is very little hum, due to the shielding on the pickups, leads, and pickguard. Great response to volume and tone knobs. I'm very, very happy.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play all kinds of rock, stopping short of metal. These work well for anything from cleanest cleans, to fairly heavy distortion. I don't play metal, but I imagine they're not very good for that.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I'd reccomend these to anyone in the market for a P-90. Pete can make them however you want, with ceramic, alnico 5, alnico 2, overwound, underwound, whatever. Excellent customer service and very reasonable price! Didn't hesitate at all on my unusual request (strat pickguard with P-90's and a 5-way superswitch). If they were stolen, I'd definitely get another set just the same.
