Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Tele- strong, a little hotter than reg. Fender P-up, CC Rider- Hot, very strong P-up, have read reports of original ES-150 P-up being the loudest single-coil ever made, Pete seems to have hit the mark with this P-up
Tone: Tele- Great balance from string to string, full, tight bottom end, punchy mids, beautiful clear highs without being to piercing, when pushed harder will bark nicely, great Tele spank . The CC Rider is definitely a neck P-up, full and warm, tight bass, round mids and highs, but not a whole lot of bite on treble end ( again this is faithful to orig. ES-150) wonderful clean sound at lower volume ( great jazz P-up) and will growl nicely when pushed hard, this is the best neck position P-up I've ever heard, it has this amazing airy quality that gives a hollowbody sound to a solidbody guitar. The two P-up's in combo are equally amazing, fullest, roundest, sweetest tone you've ever heard, never thought I could get a dead-on-the-money B.B. King tone out of aTele but these P-up's did it! I LOVE THESE PICKUPS!!!!! They are the quietest ( no noise) best sounding P-up's I've ever owned, and I've had Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, Ibanez, Tokai, Dano, Silvertone, Gretsch, Harmony, and Heritage guitars.
Sonic evaluation: Play these P-ups in Tele with all maple neck thru '71 Fender Super Reverb that's been taken to black-face specs. 4 X 10" Jensens.
I get great clean sounds from these P-ups and when I run them hard I can get all the growl, bark, and grind I need out of them. Generally can get all the volume I need from these pickups with amp volume between 3 an 6, and 6 is LOUD!!!!!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play vintage era electric blues ( 40's - late 60's), and some jazz ( same era), but these pickups would be great for everything from straight-up chickin' pickin' country, to blues, blues/rock, rock, funk, soul, R&B, to jazz standards.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I have found my pickups!!! I will definitely buy All my future pickups from Vintage Vibe Guitars. Will be getting a set of Strat pickups from VVG very soon, and also have some custom pickup rewind work I need done. Pete Biltoft does great work, fast, friendly service, better prices than any of the big manufacturers, and a better product. I highly recommend these pickups to anyone wanting high quality handmade custom pickups.
