Wilkinson Zebra Humbuckers, Matched Set, Neck & Bridge, Passive.

I have quite a rare tanglewood, semi-electric les paul shape guitar.
The stock pickups where rubbish, so i replaced them with the wilkinsons. I wired them for full humbucker sound, they have four wire and can be spit if required. Black wire is earth, Red & White wires tape together, and Yellow is hot.

Medium output pickup, but dont let that fool you. These are the best PAF sounding humbuckers i have ever used. I have been playing 20 years. Played through a marshall valvestate 100, with a MI Audio crunch box pedal. They are exact modern replicas using the original PAF seth lover design. They have a very solid and focused bottom end, very tight and very clear and clean in sound. You can get ANY sound you like from jazz, blues, screaming hard rock, you name it. I play hardrock and blues and they give me all the crunch i need. The more gain you use the happier these babies get. As stated above, think Satch or Guns n Roses, ACDC, etc. The only problem i had was the neck pickup was louder than the bridge, so i lowerd it and raised the bridge pickup to balance them nicley.

If stolen i would replace, infact the next guitar i buy will have these wilkinsons fitted. I might try fitting a switch to split these pickups for even more tones!

Passive Humbucking pickup w/four conductor wiring.

I installed these in an Epiphone Spotlight (PRS copy) in both the neck and bridge positions. They are replacing EMG Selects. The EMG's were very muddy sounding.

These pickups sound great. They are low output pups...like a PAF. I am playing through a Guyatone OD-1>>>Ernie Ball Wah>>>Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic>>>Zoom A9 (for Delay)>>>Peavey Classic 30. The tone is very well balanced. The low end is tight and the high end is smooth. These are a calibrated set (bridge pup is hotter than the neck pup). They are great for all styles of music. They work great in both positions.

I have been playing for 20 yrs. I teach guitar and play in my Church Worship team where we cover everything from Chris Tomlin to Israel Houghton and these pickups are awesome.

The output is low for a humbucker, like a dimarzio PAF. I am playing thru a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic going into a Peavey Classic 30. The tone is very well rounded.
On the Clean setting : With the tone all the way up and my amp settings all at 12 O'clock it sounds like a les paul standard but with more definition in the bass. With it rolled back it sounds like a jazz guitar. With the coils split it sounds similiar to a strat but with less output. They are good for all styles of music but excel at the more classic side or rock.
One the overdrive setting you can get anything from Satch to Guns N Roses. The neck pickup is surprisingly clear...not muddy. I can nail the tone on "Sweet Child of Mine". The Bridge pickup is full sounding and bright at the same time. I forgot to mention they are calibrated so the Bridge pickup is hotter than the Neck.

I usually play Dimarzios...I have owned the Paf Pro, Super Distortion Tone Zone, Air Norton, Virtual P90, DLX plus Neck, Steve's Special, VV Solo, VV Blues and VV Heavy Blues....and these pickups are IMHO just as good.

TYPICAL ZEBRA TYPE HUMBUCKERS, WEIGHTING SOME WHAT HEAVY FOR MAGNETS, HAS WILKINSON ENGRAVED ON COVER, LONG LEADS. MEASURES 7 FOR NECK AND 13.5 FOR BRIDGE, CAME WITH MOUNTING RINGS. INSTALLED WITH NO PROBLEMS.

CHANGING THE PUPS IN THE FENDER SQUIRE 2001 STARFIRE SEMI HOLLOW WHICH ARE DUNCAN DESIGNED.THE DUNCANS ARE ALRIGHT, BETTER THAN THE MUDDY EPI'S ON MY PREVIOUS DOT. BUT WANTED TO TRY AN OPEN PAIR AND THE COST OF $26/PAIR WAS A WIN/WIN CHOICE. THE DUNCANS TONE WAS LIMITED AND HAD NO PRESENCE NOT LIKE THE PUPS IN MY ORVILLE 335. DO NOT KNOW OF ANY ANY ARTISTS USING THEM.

PLAY BLUES AND ROCK THRU MY BLUES DELUXE AND USE A TK 999 IBANEZ AND A MARSHALL GOVN'OR FOR THAT CRUNCH. THESE WILKINSONS IMMMEDIATELY SOUNDED CLEAR AND LOUDER WITH GREAT PRESENCE, WIDE RANGE FROM BASS TO TREBLE, VERY IMPRESSED. EXCELLENT IN ALL 3 POSITIONS, ESPECIALLY IN THE MID, THAT SWEET, WARM, CLEAR AND FAT TONE THAT ONLY ONE CAN ACHIEVE FROM A SEMI HOLLOW, LIKE THE MID POSITION ON A TELE BUT WARMER AND OPEN. THE NECK IS GREAT AND THE BRIDGE IS ALSO, BUT REMEMBER IF YOU WANT A CLEARER BRIDGE TONE IN THE BASS AREA, THEN YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO AN ALNICO 2 MAGNET HUMBUCKER, SO I PLAN TO TRY THE EDEN AL-2 PAIR WHICH ARE USA PARTS AND ASSEMLBLED IN CHINA, LIKE THESE WILKINSONS.

IF STOLEN, I WOULD BUY AGAIN FOR THAT PRICE OF $26/PAIR - DEFINITELY! BEEN PLAYING AROUND FOR A DECADE AND FEEL THAT I AM EDUCATED ENOUGH TO KNOW HALF DECENT TONE FROM A PICKUP AND THESE ARE FINE, FOR THEY SOUND LIKE ANYOTHER BRAND BUT A FRACTION OF THE COST. A VERY CHEAP WAY TO UPGRADE ANY AXE. I CAN SEE THESE PUPS IN LOTS OF EPI AND OTHER CLONE LES PAULS AND 335'S, IT WOULD COST MORE TO INSTALL THAN THE PRICE OF THE PUPS. THESE WILKINSONS ARE IMPRESSIVE ENOUGH FOR ME TO ORDER THOSE EDEN AL-2 HUMBUCKERS- GREAT PICKGUARDS TOO!
