Features :
Strat type single coils. Don't know the impedance - the main thing is the sound

Instrument :
Installed in a MIM Fender Strat in all 3 positions, replacing a mixture of unknown pickups which were in the huitar when I bought it second hand. The whole point of the Ozones is to sound like John Mayer and his Fender Big Dipper pickups which are not for separate sale. The pickups in the guitar when I bought it were a mixture of good and poor and were not calibrated/equal in output

Sound : 10
The output is quite loud, but very well controlled with the mid frequencies scooped out somewhat. I play them with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and drive them with a Tube Screamer when needed, but they will drive the amp on their own. They are very clear and well defined, beautiful when clean, in all 5 positions but bang on the nail in 2 and 4. Driven, they do not have the harsh top end you hear too often, ut are not muddy either considering there isn't too much middle - quite an achievement. They are for someone hunting for beautiful tone, not power of harshness.

Overall Rating : 10
I would certianly buy them again and would tell everyone else to as well! I have been playing for 30 years and never found such a good strat tone. I did a lot of searching and questioning first and wondered whether they would be one trick ponies - they are not. I also bought a set of Tweed Tones for my other Strat. They are also excellent, but more normal sounding: damn good normal 50's style tone, but the Ozones are just in my tone bracket!! These babies are hand wound by a chap called Andy who lives in Wales and clearly he just lives for tone. I think he used to work for one of the better known replacement pickup companies - he certainly kows his stuff and is very very helpful. He has a range of pickups, so get in touch and tell him what you are after and he will tell you what you need, and it won't bust the bank!
