Features
:
Pickup features: It's a passive humbucker.
Impedence or other specs: It reads like a slightly hot PAF. Get in touch with Wolfe for the specs and he'll get back with you in a jiffy.
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: '02 Les Paul R8 Custom Authentic
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Duncan Custom/'59
Other pickups on guitar: Both are a matching Caretaker set.
Artists using this pickup: Does it matter? :)
You musical style(s): Hard Rock/Metal
Reason for pickup change: Not happy with the compressed, flat, sterile tone of the Duncans I had.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: These are like a hot PAF-ish pickup. They are PAF-ish in ways and not in others. I don't mean like a Duncan '59 or DiMarzio PAF Pro. Those are not good examples of PAF pickups. Think more like the Duncan Antiquity, then improve upon that and you have a good PAF replica.
Tone: Very well balanced. Very nice with a slight mid-hump. Not PAF-ish in that sense, but that's where it strays away. It's like a nice, hot PAF.
Sonic evaluation: My amp is a Mesa Stiletto with EH 12AX7's, SED EL34's and NOS RCA 5U4GB's into either a Recto 2x12 or angled Recto Traditional 4x12.
Great balance between the front and rear and the most unreal squanky tone when the selector switch is in the middle. These pickups are PAF-like in a lot of way and not in others. Nice, crunchy mids, smooth highs and a pronounced, tight bass. The mids are bold, but not overpowering, bloody or artificial. They turned this bright guitar into a crunch and chunk machine. Huge-sounding. Not as much of a mid-hump as the WCR Fillmores (another great pickup), but still there. Smooth, smooth highs, but great prescence. I can't think of another way to describe these, actually. They're amazing. The low sare so tight and crunchy, but the mids are smooth and the highs are smooth and punchy at the same time. This is all just the bridge pickup I'm talking about. The neck is like a really, really nice, slightly hot PAF. Big and clean, but thick with great overtones and punch. I can't get over the crunch in these pickups, but how clean and punchy they are at the same time.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: My band plays Hard Rock to Metal. I wouldn't use this for Thrash or Speed Metal, but I also wouldn't use a Les Paul or necessarily an EL34 amp. That requires something a little different.

Comments: I'd not only buy these again if something happened to them, I'm buy sets for my other guitars anyway! I have two other Historic Les Pauls that may get these and at least one of those will definately get them. I compare it to all my other guitars and pickups, like Timbuckers, WCR, etcetera. I'm extremely satisfied and these have come 99.999999% to getting what I want from my tone and these guitars. Great, great price for essentially a custom pickup. Unbelieveable.

Comments: My tech watches my gear like a hawk. Never lost a piece but would replace these. 35 years of playing. These are the best I`ve heard so far.I may get a set for my other reissue. I heard someone playing these in the store and asked what they were.I may put covers on just for the look.

Features
:
Pickup features: Set of passive humbuckers
Impedence or other specs: 9.4 bridge, 8.6 neck
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Gibson 2001 R8
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Lindy Fralin
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Me, so far. I want to send a set to Warren Haynes.
You musical style(s): Blues, classic rock
Reason for pickup change: The Fralins were great but not my "vision". These are the sound I`ve been hearing in my head and trying to acheive for 25 years.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Like a set of old PAFs made on a good day in 58.
Tone: Smooth and creamy to make the paint on the walls bubble with a few turns of the volume and tone controls.
Sonic evaluation: 01 R8 into a JCM2000 TSL602. Clean they are clear and articulate. You hear every note in chords. With a little gain they really come to life and honk at you with that Duane smooth sound. A lot of gain and they are Gary Moore`s Parisienne Walkways an Still Got The Blues for you.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I would not use them for Pantera type metal but everything else is fair game.

Comments: I have all the measurements written own. They would be immediatly duplicated.Kids read this forum so I can`t describe the action I would take against those responsible for me losing these pickups
