You musical style(s): Eclectic
Reason for pickup change: Wanted to switch back to a single coil bridge pickup to acheive some more traditional tele tones

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: noticely hotter than a typical tele bridge; matches really well with the Duncan Alnico II humbucker
Tone: extremely well balanced across the frequency spectrum warm AND twangy
Sonic evaluation: This is an alder body Tele with a nitro laquer finish. It has a huge maple neck with a double truss rod made by Warmoth. The fingerboard is ebony. I run it through a variety of heads including a Budda twinmaster, a 50 watt Plexi Marshall, and A completely rebuilt silverface bassman designed to resemble a JTM 45 Bluesbreaker type sound. These heads are slaved to a THD hotplate and run into delay and reverb and finally into a Mesa 2:90 power amp that feeds a Marshall 4x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's.
This is my first Wolfetone pickup and, based on the experience, it won't be my last. This is a wonderful sounding pickup that captures many elusive qualities. It has tele twang, yet is creamy and warm in overdrive. It has plenty of output so that it balances with the neck humbucker, but is not at all muddy like some "hot" pickups. I have played for thirty-one years and during that time have tried lots of stuff including Rio Grande, Fralin, Duncan, Dimarzio, Vintage Fenders, original Gibson PAF's and others. Wolfe's work is top notch. While I'm not one to talk about an overall best because I believe that all of these manufacturers' products have their merits, I will say that this is the most versatile, balanced, ballsy, articulate tele bridge pickup I have ever tried. It 's a winner and priced very reasonably for boutique type work. I love it.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play blues, rock, some rootsy countryish stuff as well as jazz and bop. This guitar works for all of that stuff depending on which amp you use and how you set it.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would definitely buy it again. I am totally satisfied and will definitely go back to Wolfe for other pickups and rewinds. You can't beat the deal. He winds and rewinds until you are happy. What's not to like?
