I have this pickup in a USA Custom Guitars Strat, bridge position. The body is Honduran mahogany and the the neck is birdseye maple. Absolutely beautiful guitar. I have a Floyd Rose Original on it as well. I've also got single coils made by Lynn Collins in the middle and neck positions. The guitar and pickups are all made by local guys here in the Seattle area.

This pickup is absolutely awesome in this guitar!! It has a very tight bass and a definite midrange spike. The highs are nice and clear and when soloing. The definition and responsiveness of this pickup are honestly the best I've ever heard. It's quite impressive to be able to go from almost perfectly clean to a pretty good crunch without touching a knob on the guitar or amp! Through my Marshall DSL 401 and DSL 100 I can definitely hear a pretty strong hint of the "Brown Sound" in the gain channels. I've owned Duncan's, DiMarzio's, Gibson's, EMG's in the past and I can truly say that nothing comes close to this baby for rock and roll.

This pickup is as close to a "one-trick-pony" for rock and roll as I've found yet. I have to admit, I don't believe there IS such a thing, but this is a very special pickup. Warm, clear, articulate, and versitile. It will capture all the nuances of your playing. That's the good news...and maybe the bad news for some! Also, Wolfe is a great guy and will work with you until you get the sound you're after with his pickups.

Pickup features: Neck: Zebra screw/slug Bridge: Cream double slug
Impedence or other specs: About equal, Wolfe said bridge was about 12k w/Alnico 2, neck prob. 9k w/alnico 5
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Gibson LP Standard, black and beautiful
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Crappola Gibsons (stock)
Other pickups on guitar: All Wolftones........
Artists using this pickup: I dunno, could be many if they've heard what they can do
You musical style(s): Blues, hard rock, rock, li'l bit o' pop
Reason for pickup change: Gibsons sounded 1) muddy in neck 2)harsh in bridge
I couldn't plug in without cringing! Seriously! And I have a couple really good amps! I could get a decent sound w/ one pickup, but then the other would be even worse off....I was stuck to a very long time where I played unplugged :-(

Perceived output level: Both I think have a bit more output than stock pickups
Tone: Very clear, defined. Bridge is bright, but not too bright, rythym has bass, but not too much. You know?
Sonic evaluation: I'm using a Rivera Chubster and an old Gibson 5 watt skylark?? I dunno. But they both sound great! I can get just about ANY tone with the rivera, ANY, but somethings I would need a distortion pedal for, like a true EVH thing, cuz the amp doesn't distort enough on its own at lower volume levels...but I'm not trying to copy anyone, here. These pickups are seriously very versatile. I can go from a very nice clean sound to very high disortion and no hit on the tone. COOL!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: These would match just about any style, I would assume, with the right amp (mine...hehe). They don't sound like S/C's clean, but still very good w/both clean and distortion
