Features :
PAF style humbucker

Instrument :
Replaced the stock hot ceramic pickups in a 91 Les Paul Classic. Original pickups are very hot and was looking for a classic PAF tone.

Sound : 10
These pickups are the best sounding humbuckers I've heard. They are clear, well balanced and very musical. I play my Les Paul through a Marshall Jubilee and these pickups sound fantastic clean and overdriven. The neck pickup is warm and clear and the neck has a bright musical tone which I haven't found in other humbuckers.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, these pickups are highly recommended. They bring my guitar to life and deliver that sought after classic PAF tone.

Impedence or other specs: ??

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Heritage 150 Gold Top
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: WCR Darkburst
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Blues, Jazz, Rock
Reason for pickup change: The darkbursts were great but after a while I realized that I was looking for a more PAF type sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: less than the Darkburst, More like a medium output, vintage PAF
Tone: balanced and clear
Sonic evaluation: I'm using Strats, Teles and a Heritage LP-type guitar. I use Plexi Marshall style amps, a custom amp built by Bill Carruth (an amp genius) of Burlington VT (loosely based on a JTM-45 bluesbreakers idea, but with more features) and also a Trainwreck Express clone (also built by Bill). These pickups are as close to perfect for me as I could imagine. The guitar has finally come to life and realized its full potential. These pickups sound like part of the guitar instead of something added on. I can't recommend them highly enough. I've tried a lot of stuff from both boutique and the major manufacturers and these just do it for me. On top of all of that Wolfe is just a first rate guy to deal with. I have other pickups made by him and they are all unique and great. In addition to all of that, Wolfe ages the pickup covers so they look really old and wicked cool, but very natural (all the other nickel parts on this guitar are tarnished and old so I didn't want the new pickups to be shiny... a nice extra).

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This is a great match for any style that a vintage PAF would work for.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would replace these in a heartbeat. I thought I was done after buying the WCR Darkbursts, but these changed all of that. I'm done searching. I wouldn't even think of going with anything else. I think Wolfe is going to be getting all my future pickup business. His stuff is just too good.
