I got a set of three of Wolfe's P90's, the mean, meaner and meanest set for my hot rodded tele routed for 3 pickups.
Instrument
:
I use a hotrodded fender telecaster routed for three P90's. The meanest is at the bridge, meaner at the middle and mean at the neck. Superb combination. The tele twang is nice and all, but I wanted something with more balls and growl.

The output levels are hotter than the stock tele pickups but that's not the whole story. The whole character of the guitar changed from passable to screaming demon with these wolfetones. Just by adjusting the volume and treble, I can go from sweet mellow Pat Martino tones to screaming Angus Young AC/DC banshee wail. It even does great metal tones with two stacked dist/overdrive pedals and a compressor and the bridge pickup.
My tele was naturally bright, and the wolfes helped even out the response and give me a broad spectrum of balanced tones.
The pickups are a fair bit hotter than I'd expected but with no loss in clarity or bite unlike a humbucker which muddies up the tone. It's the perfect balance between sweet singing single coil tone and in your face brick-wall type humbucker madness.

I've tried many P90's before settling on the wolfes. I had Fralins borrowed for a month, but it just didn't have the kind of bite, raunch and wail I was looking for. Tried some common aftermarket pickups from GFS, SeymourD but they didn't match my guitar's natural tone.
The wolfes are the best P90's I've used, great balance of sweet sounds and screaming ballsy mayhem.

Perceived output level: A bit less than the SD
Tone: Balanced and sweet
Sonic evaluation: Through my Pro Reverb, the tone is sweet without being overly warm. Clean, clear and dynamic on both guitars. I'm using a 4-way switch on the black korina teleclone and the parallel and series combos are twangy and fat respectively (Its a great switch for these pups). The Hamer was very so so, with the SDs. In fact, I was ready to sell the guitar. The Wolfetones turned this guitar into a keeper. The tone is just gorgeous. I've listened to modern Gibsons, SD Antiquities and their vintage P-90s. I've tried and tried again to get good tone out of P-90s and have thus bought and sold around 4 guitars that never satisfied me in the long term. The Wolfetones pale the rest.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Very versatile. With the right amp, you could play about any style.

Comments: I bought a second set. In fact, I'd like to try the strat and HB pups.

Reason for pickup change: Didn't like the shrill VNs, especially bridge pos. Fine for chicken pickin', but that's not what I do.
Sound

Perceived output level: At around 11k, these pups are loud without being muddy, the P90 really sings.
Tone: I was looking to "darken" the tone up, and Wolfe gave me exactly what I wanted.
Sonic evaluation: I'm presently playing thru a Peavey Delta Blues w/ 1 15", although I have a Traynor YCV 40 on order. My other guitars are a SRV Strat with Rios and an early '70's ES335, but since my Tele became P90 equipped, it has been my go to guitar.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: The P90 in the neck gives a real biting blues tone, and mixes beautifully w/ bridge.

Comments: I've always loved the P90 sound but am not a Les Paul kinda' guy, so when Wolfe suggested this for my Tele, I went for it bigtime. The reason I went with Wolfe on this as opposed to an off the shelf Gibson type pup is that he will wind you the sound you want. Eg., he used 44 gauge wire on the bridge pup to bleed out some of the highs. They really are custom made, and he's extremely accomodating.
