Features :
Pickup features: single coil
Impedence or other specs: Neck: 6.3 Middle 6:3 Bridge: 9

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: American strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock
Other pickups on guitar: all wolfetones now
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): blues, jazz, rock
Reason for pickup change: Felt that the stock pickups just didn't have the sweet clean articulate sound i was looking for... Also overdriven they sounded thin and somewhat harsh

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: slighty hotter than vintage in neck and middle... Bridge is hotter but not overly so
Tone: Sweet treble, strong mids and tight tight bass response
Sonic evaluation: Using these pickups with the american strat through a '68 pro reverb.. and they sound fantastic! String to string definition is excellent and is just about impossible to find a "bad" sound. The pickups are very touch sensitive allowing for great dynamics to be produced. Overdriven they sound excellent as well, particulary the neck pickup. Clean these pickups sound produce something like a Ronnie Earl tone... until i start to play at which point any semblance of Ronnie Earl is lost :)

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues, Jazz, Country, Rock.... Probably would not be suitable for Metal

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Besides being an excellent pickup maker Wolfe is also a helluva nice guy who really cares about the customer. He is extremely accomadating with rewinds and anything of that sort. I really could not be any happier. If i ever need to jumpstart a guitar again i will definitely go back to Wolfe!

Features :
Pickup features: Passive Single coil
Impedence or other specs: 5.5k

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: '77 or '78 Tele
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Duncan '59
Other pickups on guitar: Wofetone Tele Bitch (bridge)
Artists using this pickup: i'm not sure, but everyone should
You musical style(s): art punk/noise rock
Reason for pickup change: The Duncan was too bassy, even with 500k tone pot, .02 cap. and
coil split. Plus, those L-brackets or whatever they're called
we're too long for the pup cavity, so it never fit right, always
wobbled. Not to mention the fact that the high E string always
got caught underneath the bobbin, cuz I couldn't get the pup
low enough.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: vintage output, but not anemic, lots of "presence"
Tone: liquid highs, woody lows, jangly, chimey, lovely
Sonic evaluation: Guitar: Hard ash Tele through Soldano Hot Rod 50, primarily. At home, Squier 15. I'm not trying to nail SRV or Hendrix, so I can't say how
accurately "vintage" this is. I don't normally use the neck pup, but
I'll just sit around twaning on this one, absorbing it's yummy tone.
With some distortion, you get a nice growl, then back off volume pot
and the pup cleans up and jangles. Tons of character. Really sensitive to finger/pick pressure, height adjustment, volume changes, picking closer to neck or bridge. Seems like every place on the fingerboard has its own sound. I use a .001 capacitor on my volume pot to retain highs as I turn down, and the Cub works well with this setup. Some single coil noise, but not a bother.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: stuff like Gang of Four, Birthday Party, the Fall, Sonic Youth, Jesus Lizard

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: See my review for the Tele bitch for other gear I'm using. Been playing 22 years. Wolfe's pickups are worth the full price, but the charge for a rewind is a steal! If this were lost or stolen, I'd be on the horn crying to Wolfe to make me another. Make no mistake, the kind of service you get from Wolfe is second to none. And you actually get to discuss your ideal design with him, as if you were some kind of rock star. There are other products out their that intrigue me, but
don't seem to meet my specific needs.
star.

Features :
Pickup features: passive single coil
Impedence or other specs: neck 6.35K, middle (RW/RP) 7.05K ohms; Alnico II magnets

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 95 Am. Std. Strat with Warmoth neck
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Strats (rewinds)
Other pickups on guitar: Fralin Tele bridge pickup
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s):
Reason for pickup change: the neverending quest for the ultimate tone (the Duncans were kind of thin and plain)

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: vintage Strat output, middle pickup is noticeably louder
Tone: balanced but bright, clear
Sonic evaluation: My Strat is heavily modded - tremolo block cavity filled and non-vibrato bridge installed, Tele bridge pickup, wired like a Grosh (vol, tone, blend) also middle/bridge series switch. I play thru a '71 Twin, Treble 7, Mid 1, Bass 5, Reverb 2-3. The neck pickup is buttery and great for rhythm or leads. The middle pickup has its own sound - it is thicker ,more midrangey but still twangy, similar to a P-90 I had in the middle pos. of a custom guitar. The neck/middle combo has a nice soft feel for jazzier rhythms. Neck/bridge sounds much fuller than with the original Duncan, leaning a bit more to the Gibson middle tone as well. Middle bridge combo is full and clucks, not too hollow. The tones are transparent and complex, they beg to project nuances in pick attack. Reverb sounds too good with these pickups, I feel like I?m cheating if I turn it to 4!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play a mix of clean blues, Dead/J. Garcia, & Sea and Cake/Tortoise for which these pickups excel. I don't know if they would be suited to harder, distorted music.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would most certainly replace these pickups if lost, stolen, eaten by a dragon, etc. I asked Wolfe to give me Jerry Garcia?s "Europe ?72" sound and he did. The neck pickup nails the "Jack Straw" tone. Usually Strat middle pickups sound just a tad brighter and thinner than the neck pickup, but Wolfe wound mine hotter so it is a bit darker - a great full sound on its own. Somehow the combo positions retain their brightness, so the variety of sounds is much greater than with the Duncans. Wolfe?s Cub pickups use Alnico 5 magnets, but he rewound my Alnico 2 pickups to the Cub specs because I like a bit more compressed sound. These pickups are plenty bright, but I?m not rolling the guitar?s tone control down to 6 like I did with the Duncans. There is a certain life, a vividness to these pickups which were missing from the Duncans. "That sound" changes for me every week or so, but these nailed it for now. I considered Antiquities and Fralins, but after reading rave reviews and talking to Wolfe, I wen with these. Wolfe is a friendly guy who wants his customers to be happy and has the talents to make that happen. He has a "rewind ?em till you like ?em guarantee" and his turnaround time was only about a week. Also Wolfe ships US and Canada no charge. Lindy Fralin charged me $10 shipping and then sent the pickup via $3 Priority mail. For awhile store bought pickups were great for me, but custom hand winding adds an extra dimension to the sound . I plan to swap these pickups out to a 3 pickup Tele I am building and continue to use Wolfetone pickups for future guitars I build.

Features :
Pickup features: single coil, passive
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 90s Tele Deluxe
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: neck and middle Seymour Duncans
Other pickups on guitar: Wolfetone Tele "Bitch"
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): classic rock, blues
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: "vintage"
Tone: very balanced with slight mid scoop
Sonic evaluation: I ordered a Tele "Bitch" bridge and strat "Cubs" for the
neck and middle of my 90s Tele Deluxe. The strat neck and middle "Cubs" (no more than
7.5k ohms) are fairly straightforward vintage output.
The Strat pickups at first listening reminded me of the
Rio Grande Tallboys. Fairly bright with fairly scooped mids
just like I asked for. The difference being the Wolfetones
had a motherload of punch. I almost thought they would be
a little too bright for me at first but after a little
fiddling and playing with the tone knob on the guitar, I found
them too be absolutely perfect for the tones I wanted. They
respond better to the tone control than ANY other pickup I
have played...bar none. I get too get rid of some high
frequencies without losing my punch and articulation.
Rolling down the tone control also makes them PERFECT for
slide (which I suck at but at least I had great tone whilst
I was sucking). Wolfe wound the neck pickup just a bit
smoother and more round than the middle, which is perfect for
me.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would definately replace them if stolen. I am VERY happy with these pickups.
