Features :
Pickup features: single coil
Impedence or other specs: unknown

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: warmoth strat
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: rio grande tallboy
Other pickups on guitar: rio grande tallboys
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): blues, rock, jazz, country
Reason for pickup change: pickup was broken and needed rewinding

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: discernably hotter than the usual weak strat bridge pickup
Tone: very balanced, with some midrange emphasis
Sonic evaluation: This pickup is in a strat with a swamp ash body, large maple neck and fingerboard with a nitro finish. I usually play through a 50 watt plexi Marshall although sometimes I use a Budda Twinmaster or anyone of several custom amps I own. Basically I like the old Marshall, tweed Fender type tone. Anyway,This is my third pickup from Wolfe. I had a broken rio tallboy and I asked him to rewind it. I asked him to get it as close to an old broadcaster sound as he could. He reminded me that a lot of that sound is the tele bridge, but that he'd do his best. The pickup doesn't sound quite like a Tele, but it does have some of that twang and character. The fact is it sounds so nice that it doesn't really matter. It's got increased output, nice midrange fatness and a definition and clarity that is typical of Wolfe's work. His pickups and rewinds make your other pickups sound a little bit muffled and unfocused by comparison. It's not brightness as much as transparency, clarity and focus. It's really nice and was just what this guitar needed.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play blues, rock and jazz. This very definitely a bridge pickup and an excellent match for this guitar

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: If this was lost or stolen, I'd get another one. I've been playing for 34 years (most of the time professionally) and play strats, teles and les pauls. The pickup is great. I've tried some of the other boutique brands and can remember when a '62 strat cost about 150 bucks used (nobody wanted 'em including, I'm embarrassed to say, me), so I've played originals. Everybody has something to offer, but I really like what Wolfe does. First of all, his rewinds are dirt cheap and he'll rewind until you like it (can't figure out how he affords to do this, but I hope it doesn't change). Second you really don't want him to rewind because he usually gets it right the first time. The only thing I wish is that I lived next door to his shop, but then I'd probably become even more obsessive than I am now. long story, less long, his pickups are really nice, buy some and you won't be disappointed.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Stratocaster
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced:
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): From Blues to Pink Floyd
Reason for pickup change: Texas Specials were to muddy for me.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Output level is just right. I don't like super hot pu's since they tend to get a little cloudy in tone.
Tone: These are very nicely balanced from string to string. They have that crystal clear note definition you hear on a slow piece from someone like David Gilmour. Very nice!!ce from
Sonic evaluation: I'm using several Strats through a '67 Deluxe Reverb and a Pro Jr. The Wolfetone pickups are as good if not better then the Lindy Fralins I have in a different Strat. Yes, it's true.....my MIM Strat sounds better than my Custom Shop!! Damn!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues/Rock/Floyd. These pickups are what I was looking for!

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Been playing for about 15 years as a basement warrior. Played Strats of all persuasions and think I know a bit about good tone. Tried all sorts of pickups from Fender, Rio Grande, Duncan, Dimarzio and Fralin. Right now I'm really enjoying the sound from my Wolfetone equipped Strat! If stolen, I'd ask for the pickups back.

Features :
Pickup features: Single coil
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: '93 Fender Strat american standard
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Stock pickups
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Rock Blues
Reason for pickup change: I needed more versatility than the standard pickups could give me. I wanted the SRV output in the neck and a better Clapton twang in position 2

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Overall a bit hotter, except in the neck, EXCACTLY what I asked for.
Tone: Unbeliveable tone! Glassy where you want it and warmer than southern Florida elsewhere
Sonic evaluation: I am using a '93 american Standard strat and a Fender Blues deluxe amp. I use mostly Boss and Ibanez effects; I'm not real heavy into effects. As soon as I plugged the Guitar in after installing the rewinds I knew my money was well spent. These have got to be the best deal on the planet; and Wolfe is a great guy too! I asked him for a very specific tone and he delivered; even better than I expected. The individual string definition is awesome. You gotta get some of these!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play Classic rock and blues; Wolfe will get you the sound you are looking for or he will rewind them until you like them!!

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I will go to Wolfe from now on. I have been playing for 10 years; only until recently I have become more serious about it along with my songwriting. I am about as picky as you get and I am an absolute tone freak. If you can't get happy with Wolfes pickups; you can't get happy. I have been unhappy with the stock pickups and have been trying different pickups on different guitars for years and then I heard the raving reviews about Wolfe and decided to try it and I am extremely happy. Wolfe will speak directly to you.

Features :
Pickup features: single coil
Impedence or other specs: 6.02k for the neck and 5.96k for the middle

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: mail-order Strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: middle and neck
Other pickups on guitar: bridge was rewound by Jason Lollar
Artists using this pickup: no idea
You musical style(s): rock and roll and alternative and blues
Reason for pickup change: other ones(Van Zandts) were ok but nothing special.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: probably about vintage output levels
Tone: overall, they have a rich harmonic content that surpasses any I've heard before
Sonic evaluation: I use a lot of different guitar and amp combinations and this guitar fits right in with all the other ones now instead of sticking out because of its sucky tone

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: the rewinds worked great

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: i've been playing for 10 years or so and I used to hate Strats but I changed my mind about them and put one together. If the pickups quit or disappeared, Wolfe would be my first choice for a rewind. The guy knows what he's all about and he can wind a mean pickup.
