Comments: I would rather exchange guitars and just put this pickup in it when I need a different guitar. It's that good! For the money it's a find waiting to happen. I intend on buying a few more!

Perceived output level: Low output compared to new pick ups, but not compared to my original PAFS. They hold right up!!!
Tone: They sound like PAFS!! I have (9) sets of original PAFS totaling value of over 15k!! These are the first PUPS I like nearly as much!!
Sonic evaluation: I have over 70 guitars and equal in amps. I have all the botique stuff, Dumbles, Trainwreck, Roccaforte, Brunos, Diezel, Old Marshalls, Old Voxes. These PUPS ROCK!! They aren't as dirty sounding as my old PAFS, but they aren't far off!! The best recreation yet!! I have tried them all!! Not to mention Wolfe is a great guy!! If you are not happy he does them again for free!!! Who else cares that much?????? Exactly!! Get yourself a pair and thank me at the next guitar show. My name is Kris Singh. Those of you who know me know.. I wouldn't leave this review if It wasn't a true find!! Call Wolfe, get the pick ups, be happier. You will hear them on my record due out in the Fall of 2003. How much more could I say.....
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Rock. I don't know how to play anything else. Sorry. 4RockItRocks!

Comments: This is the best thing for Les Pauls since PAFS. Not better then PAFS, but without the age, as good as you will find. For 1/10 the price, unbeatable!!!

Impedence or other specs: 7.5K and 8K, unevenly wound coils
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Les Paul reissue
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock pieces of crap
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: unknown
You musical style(s): Blues, hard rock, classic rock, some metal, and everything in between
Reason for pickup change: Could not stand the harshness and lifelessness of the stock junk
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Low, like a '50's PAF.
Tone: Sweet and sudued, but thick and rich when needed. Nice midrange
Sonic evaluation: I wanted something with a truely vintage sound, and these are definately it. Wolfe uses magnets salvaged from old 1950's P-90's and PAF's that were too junked to save in order to make these pickups. These magnets aren't "aged" or "Seymorized" in a weak attempt to get that vintage vibe. These things deliver, because they have a truely vintage "soul"
Great sustain due to the lower magnetic field. Smooth highs and a great silky midrange.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: These pickups are perfect for my music. Probably not suited to Thrash, punk, Korn-Metal, or the likes, but you never know..

Comments: I've been playing since the 60's and have played with many authentic PAFs and reissue PAFs and let me tell you, these are about as close as they come to getting that real PAF tone. Short of radio-carbon dating, I don't think Mr Lover himself would be able to tell the difference.
I love everything about them. At the price, it sure beats shelling out $1000 or more for a set of "real" PAF's. If they were lost or stolen, I would beat the bloody hell out of someone. I would definately replace them with the same pickups, and I do plan on getting more.
