This is a brand new model speaker from Basson Sound. I saw the blurb right here on H-C a few weeks back and the timing was perfect. It uses an Eminence Legend speaker in a completely sealed enclosure.

Not much in the way of features, really. It's beauty is its simplicity. However, it is a put together into a very attractive package with black tolex and grill cover, with white piping around the grill.

Sound Quality : 10
My objective in obtaining this cab was to add more "oomph" to a Reverend Kingsnake 112 combo, which has a very open back. The Basson 112 both thickens and tightens the bass response, and of course adds extra volume boost and punch. The louder I turn up the amp, the more punch the Basson adds. Using a distorted amp setting, the Basson keeps the sound crunchy and doesn't get muddy. Effects like wah and treble boost cut through with full clarity. At gig volume, it hits like an iron fist in a velvet glove. It's a perfect companion to the Kingsnake amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's brand new, but it looks to be built rock solid. Build quality is flawless. Looks like a work of art. Too soon to give this category a numeric ranking.

Customer Support : 10
Prior to purchase, I had a lengthy phone conversation with Shawn Green at Basson. He listened to my needs, and confirmed that this cab would be a good match. Shawn spent a lot of time with me, and he sounds like a real together guy. He believes in his product and supports it enthusiastically. Even sent a free t-shirt in the package. After I took delivery, he contacted me for feedback. I'm going to keep him informed.

Overall Rating : 10
So far, so good. It's a great cab and I enjoy using it. It does the job I hired it to do, and does it well. I'm proud to be a member of the Basson club!

First a little histroy, I was at the Guitar Show in Del Mar looking for a 1X12 cabnit to go with my Mesa F-30. That where I met Shawn Green from Basson Sound. Shawn told they were interested in making a 1X12 cabnit, but at this time did not have it in their product line. Well this week on 10-06-05 Shawn called me up and told come and pick the first 1X12 ever made by Basson Sound. Those of you familar with Basson Sound know their cabnit lines are top noch. The cabnit is solid with a 12", 8 ohm, 75 watt speaker. The Cabnit is 17H X 17W X 14D, black tolex with black screen with white piping. It is very retro looking. In has two 1/4 jacks in the back (In/Out) and weight in at approximately 40lb. The cabnit is a sealed back cabnit.

Sound Quality : 10
With the sealed back cabnit you get great bass respone. It matches well with the Mesa F-30 abd has a cool mini stack look to it. As most musicians know Mesa amp give you a heavy overdrivn sound and the F-30 is no exception. The cabnit sound great when driven hard and cleans up well. I also hooked it up to my DRRI and Prosonic, the cabnit work great with both amp. The cabnit has handle everything I have hooked it up to well, including a 120 watt tube amp at Basson Sounds. Of course I didn't turn in up, didn't want to break it before I got it out of the store.

Reliability : 2
Well I just got it so I can't put much here, but the cabnit is built like a tank and comes with a 5 year warranty.

Once again I just got it, but Shawn Green at Basson went out of his way to get me this cabnit. My hat is off to all the great people who work at Basson Sound. If anyone is in North Sab Diego County I would suggest you drop into Basson Sound and check out their product line.

Overall Rating : 10
I have playing music for over 30 years and have played professional for 10 years. I have learned one thing in all my years, keep it simple. I own mostly Fender amps with a Supro, Gibson, Mesa thrown in just to spice thing up. This cabnit is a great addition and seem to work well with everything I have plugged it into.

If anybody out there has looked for a 1X12 you will find there sre not a lot of choices. Mesa wanted as much for thier 1X12 cabnit as some want for there 4X12. And there is no way the quility could be any better than the Basson cabnit. Basson has a good rep and the price was right.

Okay so far it has been hugs and kisses. Now hear is the only thing I don't like about the cabnit. It is boxy Think the 17"H is just great I wish it was a little wider. It would fit under most amps better. The Mesa it fit okay, but is too narrow for most the Fender amps I put it under.

Overall this is a great cabnit that sounds great and looks grear. Anyone who needs a 1X12 keep an eye out when this hits their product line
